BMW and M Power Owners

Why is it strange?

Because you seem to chop and change a lot. You bought a £25k diesel BMW to do big miles and save money (despite being contractor and being able to claims business miles) and a month later you get a job working from home and are going to PX new BMW in (for a lot less than its worth) to get a rather bland, overpriced, M3 from another dealer up north.

I didn't buy the F10 to save money, I don't think buying a £24k car constitutes saving money. :D

I was pondering about getting an M3 if I get one of the two jobs I've been head hunted for which are close to home. If they hadn't have come up I would stay where I am till the end of the project (middle to late next year, I think).

Test drive one, they are awesome for everyday and short commutes (they drink fuel though) but a little less special than a 2 seater would be

I've not bothered with warranty and a lot don't on these but that's your call, Sure a AUC car is a nice for peace of mind but that one is massively overpriced. Some better ones on PH. I got mega lucky with mind as I saw in on Ebay and the guy didn't really want to sell it but had to, it was local and had all the options I wanted.

I genuinely didn't believe my fellow owners when they said prices were going up, but that is obscene. I paid £16k for mine 3 years ago with only 10k more miles from the same dealer!

It's just nuts, who are these people that want to spend 24 grand on a 10 year old Z4? The car market is getting bizarre.

The Z4M is a great car but 24k?

Completely agree, and I say this as an owner.

The logic is that manufacturers are simply not making powerful NA engines, manual gear box's are a thing of the past, and so is real unfettered rwd (although the latter less so as there are still small rwd sports cars still being made). Ergo, if you want a genuinely raw, sporty driving experience, a modern car just wont deliver. It's why 911 2C and GT3 values sky rocketed.

Yes but the Z4M Roadster was never viewed at the time as some sort of raw precision driving instrument so there is much rose tinted spectacle wearing going on.

I think the Z4M is a great car but with the 3 litre ones sitting around the 5k mark a Z4M should be low teens at the very most.

I dare not even look at the Alpina Roadster S values...

Agreed here - a friend sold his Alpina Roadster S a few years ago, let's just say he wishes he kept it and sold it now! Even my old 3.0Si Roadster looks like it's worth the same, if not more than what I sold it for over a year ago.

Crazy isn't it! Funny thing is that it's the dealers driving up the prices. Many forum members sold theirs for normal/usual price only for the car to be advertised a week later at a dealer with 6k+ on the asking. They then drove the autotraders average asking up and private owners started asking higher too. Only a few months ago 16-17k was z4mc price. Now it's a 60-70k roadster bracket.

I suspect we might find none of these actually sell...

See it up here a lot. The same car for sale for easily over a year because its overpriced. There's a z4 I looked at with the gf 18 months ago and it's still for sale at the same price. We didn't buy it because it was about 4k over what it should be and they refused to budge.

When that happens is it just a case of them messing up what they paid for it and trying to claw it back or do they genuinely think that a seller will eventually come along at the asking price?

Definitely, but apart from a Manual Boxster S, what comes close nowadays? And even they are turbo instead of NA now!

I don't see the market for it, but I won't complain when I swap mine in for a Boxster S and get a hopefully better price than if these speculators weren't driving up prices ridiculously, just glad I bought when I did!

That's exactly what I suspected. Think they'd dropped a clangar and needed to recoup the cost.

Btw, not fancy the new z4 instead of a boxster?

Think I've got a small issue. So the external temp display on the dash says +50C. This seems to be (from reading around) a clear sign that something is wrong with the external sensor although also strangely, no one online seems to have clearly identified the location of said sensor (could be the grill, could be the wheel arch). This has happened since I washed the car so its possible it's water ingress. In addition, the CEL is on but no errors or faults are listed in iDrive and I don't have ISTA/P (yet). Guessing a new sensor is probably the way forward. I think you can clear fault codes through E-SYS (or EDIABAS). Its also wreaking havoc with my climate control! Meh!

Too hot? Too spicy?....HOT HOT
