BMW and M Power Owners

Much want.

If my M5 is ever written off (heaven forbid) I'd seriously consider buying the salvage and doing an engine/drivetrain swap into an E31, or if too difficult, an E38. They both have such svelte styling compared with more modern cars. It's hard to believe they were considered rather vulgar when new - showy or flashy.
They're very striking. Stood and had a chat for five minutes with him.was a nice guy and the car was pristine. He said it had never had a single problem.

Of all the cars I regret not buying, the E31 is the second biggest (after the Lambo Countache LP500S I was offered for £40k back in 1999). I very nearly bought an 850csi in the late 90s when they were unloved and cheap. I backed out due to concerns that I might need to start doing some mega miles for business (which didn't happen).

As WillGill says they're not hard to get into to replace. However, it might be worth having a poke around before ordering a new bulb. Early models of the E89 had a recall for the rear light units as the seals were pap and leaked. If it looks like water has got in and damaged things it'll be worth ringing a dealer to see if it qualified for and had the recall done as

- Free replacement,
- If the seal has gone it could blow your replacement bulb shortly after fitting.

I'll see if I can dig out the relevant PDF tommorrow.

Had a poke around in the boot, it doesn't seem to be any of the 3 lights which you can actually replace the bulbs for, it's the two lights which run the length of the rear light cluster at the top (just the normal tail lights) which aren't working on the left side.

I do have condensation in the lower clear plastic part of the light, might see what the dealer says - have a warranty luckily.

Hi anyone know how to pair the IR headphones and remote for the entertainment system? I've tried holding buttons nothing happens. No instructions.....

EDIT - Got the remote working. Just the headphones left.

I've read on a forum of a V10 engined e38 in the states, it's even got the SMG box and the idrive running through what looks like the oem widescreen nav unit (I suspect it's an aftermarket jobbie though) looks the mutts (looks totally standard until you lift the bonnet) can I heck find the link :/

The guy spent $40k on the conversion!

Totally agree re the e38's styling which explains my lust for another one for years and my delight in my recently acquired one which I'm chuffed with. :)

If you can that would be great, better if I can go to the dealer with a bit of ammo!

Here's one E38 based 'M7' on the M5 Board that I was aware of. Supercharged S62, so it's got some poke!

As for the V10 E38 - iDrive can be retrofitted into IBUS cars fairly easily, so could be CCC/CIC or even NBT, although given the engine it's possible that most of the electrics have been lifted from the donor I guess.

We supposed to guess what it is?

Lol. Well you know the mini shenanigans? I now have BMW shenanigans!

Dropped it off Fri morning at 7:30 for a few little tasks (rear reflector keeps popping out in the middle, insulation underneath is dropping out for some reason, jacking point fell off, some undertrays are bellying) and was told I'd have it back Fri afternoon. Come Fri afternoon I get a call saying they've noticed another issue (one that I'd reported previously and they hadn't fixed) and they were going to fix it but it would take until Saturday lunchtime.

Fine, no problem.

Call sat at 1 - no answer. Call sat at 4 - no answer. Call at 5 - answer. "Sorry, all of the service staff have gone home and we're not sure of the status of your car or where it is". So after a lot of apologies from them I get told I'll get a call first thing Monday and that they'll sort taxi's to get me to and from work etc.

No call this morning. I call at 1, get told I'll get a call back. I call at 4, get told I'll get a call back. I call at 6 - "sorry, all the service staff have gone home...". So I kick off with the poor receptionist who basically can't do anything and there are no managers in. She promises I'll get a call back tomorrow and swears that she's passing my messages on.

My taxi from work doesn't turn up.

I'm working away tomorrow - so no pick up for the car tomorrow. Which means no car Wed.

@Scania have you got yours yet? Haven't seen the pics if so.
Yes, had it a few weeks now, absolutely love it, it's remarkable in terms of its condition and how it drives.

I always thought my 728i was a good one, by comparison, this one makes it seem tired and abused by comparison.

Not got any photos to upload yet (can't get into my photobucket account) but I'd be hard pressed to better the dealers pictures...

That said, in the flesh it's far better!

That sounds like a right pita. How comes you get no car from them while they're working on it ?
