BMW and M Power Owners

Yes, mine was the 35i with DCT. For me, the M135i is just so much easier to drive fast. It doesn't sound as good but the power delivery and handling is much better IMO.

Have you driven the M135 much?

Done a few hundred miles in a friends M135i when we went cycling. I didn't get much of a chance to try out the handling as we were fully loaded with kit. The N54 is quite spikey in comparison, but it was barely noticable for me. You definitely have more sense of occasion driving the Z.

I sold mine to a dealer for £17.5k. It was £500 less than what I would have taken for a private sale so I'm not too upset. I covered 20,000 miles in it and lost £6k in depreciation, which is a fair chunk but I can live with that. It was worth it for me, I had some great drives in it.

I don't seem to be having much luck with my 330d. Just had the front brakes replaced and now the power steering pump is on its way out and the air con belt decided to come off today, when putting it back on (no idea how it came off because the tensioner spring is loaded and working fine) I noticed the pump is literally falling apart.

I am going to start the search for a new car soon, but I'm almost 100% sure it'll be another BMW but newer with at least 2 years AUC warranty; the short list is either a 640i or 640d, a 5 Series or if I can find a good deal either PCP or lease, a 4 Series GC.

Dear lord this gets even better, just had Sytner Sunningdale phone me and ask me if I'm interested in buying a Z4 (like the one I was after 20 months ago) :D Clearly they don't look at the name of the previous owner on the V5.

I'm going to look at this tomorrow. I've spoken to the seller, He wants around 20k 'buy it now' If all goes well I think I'll offer maybe 18.5 there and then. Seem about right?
I did a HPI check and all fine except a typo..

I'll be getting a warranty from BMW if I purchase but is there anything I should look out for?

Did you ask him what his reserve price was? £18.5k is an ok price to pay, personally I'd offer £18k and not go higher.

The BMW stuff isn't expensive and avoids potentially mixing with the wrong stuff.

If it needs a topup though, it sounds like there is something wrong somewhere. You should not need to top coolant up. It is a sealed system.

OK thanks. I need to top it up as the light came on and the level is low. I'll monitor it after topping it up.

There's a new RS3 out later this year. I'd wait till then, the only thing that put me off the first RS3 is that is was an outgoing model. The engine and gearbox combo however is one of the best.

Why would you await that? That sort of comment is only for people doing random stuff like spending £25,000 on E90 335d's or something. A decent 06 Z4 at a good price is a great car.

You can pick up well specced F30/F31 335d M Sports for a shade over £30k now, I can't comprehend anyone spending £25k on an E90.

Not from you lol, I'm sure there are others that will moan at the fact that I bought this particular car lol, you do see it on here :)

And indeed 25k on an E90 (unless an M3 to be fair) is mental of course (IMO)

Full details with pics at the weekend - as to be honest I'm not even sure what options it came with, this was a very quickly made deal due to the actual model / condition and price... the toys it has or doesn't have can be checked out once I get it, and certainly don't bother me, it's not what I got it for lol, anything it has above standard spec = bonus.

Did you leave them a refundable deposit depending on whether is it as described?

I bought it! Well put a deposit down, 18.5 was the lowest he'd go, I see some with higher mileage for around 20-21 so I'm happy, Going back later to pick it up, Cant wait :D

As it's a manual, I'm in 2 minds if I should pay £125 PM for comp warranty or chuck that 125 into a savings account monthly for when things inevitably crop up, Hmm..

Pay for the warranty. Is that comprehensive with no excess? My E92 M3 was less than that, but that was in 2011/12 so prices may have gone up.

E92 M3's are reasonably robust, but when something breaks it's going to cost you.

Guys, I topped up the coolant today on the 330d after the coolant light came on. It wasn't particularly low, in fact it was just below the mid point. However the coolant light is still on and there has been no visible loss of coolant after driving 40 miles. Could this be a simple case of the sensor needing replacing?

Sounds like it though I don't know if the BMW would only display the one light - do you have a copy of inpa to run the codes?

Edit - the sensors are very cheap if you wanted to just try it

I bought a cable and software off ebay to read codes and do some simple coding but I don't have a windows computer. Thought it might work with Mac but it doesn't :( the sensor is only a tenner from GSF. I might give it a go.

I've spent a grand on this car in a week due to all new front brakes and calipers, plus needing a new crank shaft pulley. I dont think it's going to end anytime soon either, this car is turning into a money pit.
