BMW and M Power Owners

I'm going to get the local garage to do it. It's my only car at the moment and I need it to get to work and back, and they are quite reasonable too. I just don't have the time unfortunately. I'll get them to do the bare minimum and then sell it.

Well, because my wife has a big car I can own anything I want it does not have to be practical. The problem is that there are so many cars I would like to try out so I just chop and change from time to time. For example I still have a V10 R8 and a TTRS itch so at some point I will own both of these. I generally buy them at 2 to 3 years old so do not loose much in depreciation if anything.

Has it got a wind deflector? Was just looking at your thread on the Z4 forum. I really miss my Z4 and it's only been a week.

Dr House this is only going on what dealers told me when I bought my e89 but they (swindon & oxford) said demand goes up a lot, price up a little (like 5-10%). Don't know why Panthro's asking about the wind deflector, the best option by a mile is obviously the heated steering wheel. My god, I can't go back from this now.

I was asking because I wanted to know out of curiosity. I didn't say anything about it affecting the price did I  It's an easy retrofit anyway and it makes a massive difference when you're doing 50+mph.

Now worries, I can be a bit precious sometimes :) J1nxy bought an M235i and returned it for a 6 series. I think he had some problems with it (the details are in this thread somewhere). I think they will drop a bit more when the M2 is released.

Guys I've heard the strangest warning beeps I've ever heard twice in the same 50mile journey up to Sytner and no idea where it's coming from

Mentioned it to BMW and they looked at me like I was cray cray!

It beeps pretty much exactly like the BBC news chimes just without the final long chime - never heard it before, no warning messages associated with it.... is it actually my car? The only other thing is perhaps someone dropped something under the seat during a test drive however it's too loud and sounds to be from the speakers.

Anyone heard similar from their cars?

You sure it's not your phone giving you BBC push notifications :p

CIC retrofitting for CCC cars has become much cheaper recently. When I was looking in 2012 it was still around a grand for the equipment plus coding; seems you can get it all done now for under £500. I think that's one of the only downsides to earlier E9x M3's but now it's a lot more affordable.

Managed to sell my z4 35is today. I got £22k for a 2011 car with 23k on the clock. So not too bad. I think I ran it for 6 month but only put 1 to 2 k miles on it.

Honestly not surprised you got your money back; you got a good deal to begin with. I know I said it already, but I really miss my Z4. I have to get another car with a dual clutch gearbox. How does the PDK compare to DCT?

Quick question, does anyone know if bmw apps only work with a connected drive subscription? Or are they independent?

Want to get Deezer up and running of possible with an iPhone 4 or 5s.
Worst case scenario you can stream Deezer via Bluetooth. It's controllable through iDrive providing you set up playlists.

Am I imagining things, or was there a period where CCC iDrive had the CIC controller?

Perhaps I'm just getting old, but that looks like the old CCC nav layout..
It's an early '09 E60 LCI.

Not sure I like the brown nappa either, but that's another matter :p

It's easy to swap the controller around. All you need is the controller and the new dash insert to fit round it (probably more expensive than the controller itself).

The more I read about it the more I realise the only option is to try and get a decent drive of one. Quite how I'm going to manage that I've absolutely no idea.

There are just 14 in any spec on the BMW website of which the nearest is 200 miles away in London and currently all are LCI models.

I don't mind huge trips to buy cars but a 400 mile round trip for a potential 10 minute spin around the block in a car thats massively out of my budget is rather something else ;p

Hilariously one dealer has an 18 month old one for £35995.

Broadspeed will get you a brand new one of the same specification for that money. Just how do they price these cars?!

You could make a nice weekend out of it (assuming you enjoy a weekend in London)? Overnight stay, nice meal, show/museum/whatever? It's a good way to justify looking at a car 200 miles away :)

What a joker. Firstly, the car is sold as seen, and secondly he could have checked them himself before collecting it. I'd tell him to do one, but if you feel that way inclined I'd give him £150 max. They aren't even to the wear indicators just yet.

Thanks guys, I still dont feel right telling him to do one but I have asked him to go to the dealer and get them checked. He was so exited about the car I even spent £60 getting it washed and waxed after he paid me a deposit.

If he goes into a BMW dealer they will tell him to get them replaced. They told me I needed to change mine ASAP when they had 4mm left.

Having owned a E92 M3 manual, I left it for a Cayman S, then a 996 C4S and I am now buying another E92 M3, this time DCT.

That is also after considering a 997 Turbo, 97 GTS and a new M3.

Sitting in, experiencing and owning an E92 M3, is not comparable to a the same of a 320d.

What did you think of the E92 M3 manual vs 996 C4S? I've always wondered about going to a 996 C4S (used to have an E92 M3 manual). If I were to get another M3 I'd definitely get the DCT gearbox. I had it in my Z4 and it was hands down the best gearbox I've ever used.

If you are buying a Porsche, it needs to be a manual IMO, and preferably with an OEM short shift kit. The PDK, although slick, doesn't have the character of DCT. It makes for a bizarre driving experience, very unconnected. That is of course, unless you are buying a 991 GT3.

I drove a 997 S with PDK (early version with the buttons on the steering wheel) and it wasn't a pleasant experience. I just have a yearning for a grey 996 C4S with the PSE. I'm going to be buying a new car soon as I love BMW's but the 996 is on the short list. Due to a house move though my budget has been slashed dramatically so £15k is my max limit I think.
