Something I noticed more than how dividing the look of the car is, was, if you youtube it, every single youtuber has a video up of exactly the same thing. Do they all just line up at the press event and get their 20 min slot?
Thanks, definitely don't want 22s. My last X5 had 20's with RFTs and the ride was awful. Still not sure I want another but they look like a decent step up from the F15 and the spec has improved a lot. Need to test drive one.Battery means no 7 seats. See my post on page 1013 listing our new 45e.
Options wise you really want:
- Comfort seats and HUD are a must.
- Heated seats with the heated wheel and armrests.
- Laser lights with adaptive high beam assist.
- 21" wheels.
- HK stereo
- Driving Assist pro if you can find it.
- Watch out for 2021 Covid cars with deleted options (HK, touchscreen, wireless charging).
Then get yourself on Octopus Go Intelligent. With the slow charging speed (or dropping it further on 3 pin) you can get some amazing extra cheap power. The other day I got 7.5p/kWh between 16.30 and 11:00 the next day
This one is very nice and almost identical to our one(but without towbar). But it has the 22s (21s are better), vented seats with massage, leather dashboard and soft close doors. Still a bit punchy on price, I'd want it for £45k.

I get where you're coming from but recent drives in 6 cylinder vs 4 cylinder cars (981 GTS vs 718 GTS) has shown me that just because it has 6 cylinders doesn't make it better. I found the 718 much more enjoyable to drive, and the M133 is a very good engine so I'll reserve judgment until I drive one. B58 is a great engine though so I will probably eat my wordsI have not driven a C43 AMG but I have driven a C200 and I own an M340i, so hopefully my view is useful.
Firstly I don't think you can put the number of cylinders and displacement aside. The engine in the M340i is a huge part of what makes it so good and for me regardless of how good the rest of the car is, and as you'll see below I think it is really quite good, there is no place for a 2 litre 4 cylinder engine in a car of this type.
If you are looking at a 2023 M340i, then I think the C Class is the better looking car - I don't like what BMW have done with the facelift of the 3 Series. I think the 2019-2022 M340i is one of the best looking cars BMW have made for a long time and the 2022- version is a backward step from that. In this respect the C Class is clearly the winner, it is much nicer looking if you're considering a 2023 M340i. If you're not, then the M340i is as good.
The interior of the C Class is really nice but the user interface isn't as good as the BMW equivalent - the screen is better integrated on the Mercedes when looking at the 2023 M340i, but on the 2022 and earlier I much prefer the dash layout of the 3 Series. That said, the Mercedes system is probably the best system I've ever used that wasn't BMW iDrive, it's very different to the previous C Class which had arguably one of the worst systems around. I therefore wouldn't consider either to be a reason to pick or avoid the other, if that makes sense.
The M340i is also considerably cheaper than the C43 AMG. There are very few used C43 on the market anyway and many more M340i to pick from and if you are buying new the M340i has a lower list price than the C43 and is available with significant discounts from list price, which I do not believe is true of the Mercedes. From my brief research before I ruled it out it looked like a C43 would end up being at least £10k more expensive to buy.
Actually just had a look and there are quite a lot of used ones already at under £50k. That didn't take long!
There is, however, another option. The Coupe version of the C Class, which is just launching, has available in the range a 380bhp 3 litre turbo 6 cylinder engine, with almost exactly the same specifications as that in the M340i. I think therefore, if buying new, this is the car I'd get. It isn't an AMG, but is the C43 really a true AMG car either?
If it has to be a saloon or an estate, then it has to be the M340i. The engine makes that much difference.
Please don't tell me you pxed your C63S...Looking like I'll be picking up an M3 tomorrow, just trying to negotiate a couple of minor things that I expect I won't get but I'm asking anyway (service plans, alloy insurance included etc)
Be sad to see the C63S go, but 4 years of both C63 and then C63S ownership, just fancy a bit of a change. Will miss the noise the most, the M3 sounds guff in comparison but unless I buy older or spend supercar money, cars just aren't going to sound as good as what I have now, so need to accept that and move on
It's got the Ultimate pack so think it has everything, and it's in Isle of Man Green with Silverstone interior, which I bloody love as a combo.
It's a November 2023 car so I've got well over 2 years warranty, but I assume the warranty I'll get is the full manufacturers warranty and not some BMW approved used warranty? I did ask but I wasn't exactly sure based off the answer
I like the M3 and M4. Everything after that is awful. I recently spent some time in Hong Kong and the i5 blends in so well on the roads there in amongst all the other vomit inducing Chinese brand cars.If you'd have asked me if I'd ever own a G80 M3 when they first came out, I'd have laughed at you. The design has grown on me a lot. But I don't think that will be the case with a lot of their other recent designs, they're far too out there and weird
