BMW and M Power Owners

Actually you can, within 1000 miles. If it has more than 1k miles showing they'll wait though. My entire last service was based on having less than 1000 miles to the next oil service and brake pads.

1000 miles is 'due' not 'early', the post I replied to isn't due oil for 10,000 miles! :p

Never came across a buyers guide when I was shopping for mine, but I can offer some help with regards to options if you're interested.

If you're looking for a 35iS then you get by default:
- DCT Gearbox (no manual offered)
- Adaptive Suspension
- Sports Exhaust (another 30dB over a 35i I believe)
- 40 BHP over a 35i
- M Sport
- Extended lighting

If you're after the best "feel" for the car then I'd say any 35iS will do, they didn't offer any options other than adaptive suspension on the Z4 that made any difference to the way it drove. I'd recommend either buying one without runflats or replacing them, as mine was noticeably quieter, comfier, softer and more planted on F1 AS3s that the run flats it came with.

You will find the odd 35iS that came with 18" wheels. I personally find those wheels hideous and the entire car sits much better on the 19" 326Ms. Ride will be more comfortable on the smaller wheels though.

Thanks for this

This is why I insist on a warranty with these cars now - I just can't be bothered with the hassle of either enormous random bills or trying to find a specialist that is any good.

Is that a main dealer invoice?

I'd expect to see everything itemised with OEM part numbers and labour units per job. Seems suspicious that it's such a round number!!

My mate traded in his M3 and got a M4:

Lovely motor. Has a Acrapovic exhaust system aswell.

Took me out in it last night, honeymoon period so won't let me drive it yet lol. From a passengers point of view the engine doesn't feel as special as the V8 in the E92 but the grip level, even on damp roads was pretty insane, felt properly planted. Speed wise the car didn't excite me, maybe because it is so refined and it was holding back because of the damp roads, Certainly quicker than the E92 though.

Proper good looking car and the interior just sets it off.

Any recommendations on a key signal blocker as this has the keyless entry. Told him about the guy on here who had his pinched so something he best invest in.

Got her back :)

Here are their itemised prices:
This is incredible for at least two reasons: 1) they have charged full BMW list price for parts. Even a nobody can get 5% off by asking, so they've made up their parts discount as a profit on the parts. 2) the miraculous round numbers show that this has been worked out backwards. BMW themselves might have been cheaper!

Why you trying to make me sad for? :(

Sorry! :p I didn't know the car was being worked on already!

But, jesus at those prices. £750 in labour to fix a door lock and fit some new rear shocks and springs? £700 for two rear air springs? £850 for a compressor!?

Ah well, it's done now, hopefully that'll be the last of it!

EML sprung up on the M5 the other day. Nothing in iDrive, no message at ignition start up or shutdown, no red warning triangles, nothing. Been through a few power cycles and it's still there. Hey Ho, off to BMW I guess, but the car is driving absolutely fine.

Mr Keates! Long time, I hope all is well. Yeh I can see they've rounded up the labour, didn't realise they'd charged full wack for the parts. :(

I know, I was all happy it was done then I tried to go to work this morning and the new lock wouldn't catch! !! So I had to tie it shut and take it back to them... but when they looked at it all was working again!? :(

On the plus, ragged her well and good today as it's like a completely different car, no more slippage of the rear which I initially put down to the narrow tyres but now realise something wasn't right from the beginning.

Hmph!

Not to kick you whilst you are down but those part prices are worlds apart from what should have been charged.

The air springs are available for around £65 if you want OEM BMW.
The compressor is available for under £320.

All brand new, BMW OEM and delivered.

That lot should cost you £450 but you've paid £2576.12. The shocks are also much cheaper from BMW directly (£520 each inc VAT, you paid over double that).

You've also paid around £1200 in labour to replace the above, I would imagine the actual time to do this would be 2-4 hours assuming the garage have a ramp and the correct tools.

I do not understand those quotes at all, NVP. I have had a few faults in my life with air/hydraulic suspension cars, and out of interest i looked at the parts required for your repair at the rear;

The Air Springs are £39 each delivered from a supplier on eBay, brand new. Not OEM, OEM increases to £65 each.
An F11 compatible pump is £140 delivered from a supplier on eBay, brand new.
The dampers are expensive, but these come to £520 each from BMW minus 5% discount.

Labour....this is just a suspension replacement job, several hours at anywhere with a ramp?

I realise that this is now useless information to you, but there is so much scaremongering over car repairs online. I thought i would add some perspective for if anyone searched on this.
