BMW and M Power Owners

In my own experience, I speed less in a more powerful car because I'm not worried about carrying loads of speed all the time. If I have to slow down I can be back at cruising speed in a couple of seconds.
I drive way too fast in my wife's CR-V all the time because it takes until next Tuesday to get back to 60 again.

It means I won't be able to get signficantly above them so easily/quickly...

Despite owning a long line of i6 and currently a V8 BMW the only speeding tickets I’ve had in the last decade have both been in a speed limited truck that accelerates somewhat slower than the vast vast majority of cars, (when it’s loaded) imo you don’t need a smaller engine you just need better awareness of your surroundings and anticipate what’s most likely to happen if you do choose to hoof it.

As Rilot says, I find it much easier to drive slowly in a relatively powerful car rather than something slower that you tend to wring the last drop of performance from.

I drive a Golf GTI (I know not in the same league but is still 'quick') and a fast motorbike and I have never been caught speeding, my friend drives a grotty little van that can barely reach 90 and has been caught speeding 3 times in 2 years.
What car you own is irrelevant, it's how you drive it.

I completely agree that driver awareness would make more difference than changing the car, but hey, as i've said, £600 a month is also a lot to spend and there's other things I want to do :)

How are you spending £600 a month on a 340i? Even new its surely not that much, they were just over £30k new from brokers at one point

Unless you really need the funds and have over stretched, it's really strange logic to suggest that unless you’re driving over the speed limit you're not getting your monies worth?

I personally get more enjoyment from being able to blip the throttle every now and again rather than hooning around like a lunatic on each and every drive/road?

Going to view this car tomorrow. Comes with pretty much the perfect spec for me, and some extras on top.

Only options missing that I can think of are tinted windows (relatively cheap to do) and possibly enhanced bluetooth (not listed on the website, but can be coded in).

Not sure whether I will prefer smaller wheels and standard suspension to the M-Sport Plus setup.
