BMW and M Power Owners

My bmw is rocking up to 60k miles but isn't out of 3 years till March coming.

Phoned up BMW extended warranty services and they can't extend till it reaches 3 years so if it breaks down between now and then its not covered until I renew it in March. They can't extend till 3 years... Makes no sense.

She suggests phoning the dealer which i'm going to do but how bonkers is that!

I've got a new one coming for early January but wanted to keep this one protected till then at least.

This link advises the new car warranty is 3 years/unlimited miles

Well thats good to know. Its odd this 60k mile thing, I was sure it was 3 years or 60k but that link says different... even with roadside assist. Shame the lady on the phone couldn't put me straight.
All good then, as you were :)

The 60k mike thing is basically the extended warranty is more expensive once the car has passed 60k.

But, you should get an automatic warranty offer from them prior to the 3 years expiring and afaik it’s offered at a discount compared to somebody buying a used car outside the BMW network and then putting an extended warranty on it if you see what I mean.

Is that true as when I renewed mine the lady asked me the current mileage and told me that the price would go up if the car was beyond 60k?

Yes it is indeed true.

My 735i (which is 18years old but with full BMW history) is £2644 p/a for a fully comprehensive warranty - with £100 excess under 60k miles, over 60k miles (which it is now) it’s a mere £3334 p/a so yes, it certainly jumps after 60k miles!

It has to be said the warranty on the 7 Series is borderline extortion, it’s vastly more reasonable on lesser models by some margin!

I’ve owned it since June 17 and spent very much less than £2k keeping it on the road, tyres, servicing and repairs included, it goes without saying I don’t have an extended warranty! - if my car was hitting me with £330+ in bills each month (the monthly payment of said warranty) then I simply wouldn’t own it.

I think the premium in my case is the insurers way of saying “thanks but no thanks” in terms of them wanting to warrant an 18 year old vehicle!

That used to be a flagship at it's time and is still full of rather complicated stuff, as you would have found when replacing the suspension. :D

Blimey that’s pricey @Scania !

I got a pleasant surprise when I was told the warranty on the M3 was ~£795 with £250 excess or £950 with £100 excess.

Had expected MUCH higher premiums!

Tell me about it!

The “joy” of buying a car with a very rare - and damn expensive - option!

Epic system mind you, it handles beautifully for what it is and takes the weight of a caravan behind it like it’s simply not there...

You’d think an e38 being “old school” and frankly not that dissimilar from an e39 would make it much more reasonable price wise, certainly when you compare my premium quote compared to yours for the M3 - I cant see how an e38 could possibly be a higher risk than an M-Car!
I guess it’s all down to it being a 7 Series, therefore it has to have a price to reflect its standing in the pecking order regardless of its actual mechanical complexity.

Which one, there's quite a few:p. I've got about 9 months left on the AUC warranty on my e92 M3 but i've no idea how much it will be (mines at 25k miles currently so well below the expensive milestone).

My 335i is around £52x for the £100 excess and tow your car for you service, some of the prices above are eye/wallet watering.
