It gets good usage when its up to temp but I only have a 6 mile trip each way to/from work so it's not really up to temp if its doing the work duties.

I'd get it serviced as it's due one on time. If I was looking at second hand M3s I wouldn't buy one that has missed a service or had it late.

I agree with this. It's due a service irrespective of mileage. I hadn't realised he'd only done the 5k in 2 years.

BMW tv advert, which concentrates, practically exclusively, on the gesture based input to the multi-media system now seem completely ironic, given recent discussion on the system limitations + subscription cost.

Yeh absolutely. Especially important as it sounds like a very occasional use car which sees more cold starts (fuel dilution etc) than one that has done 5k miles an average amount of time. I think I do about 10-12k miles a year in mine and I just get it done yearly.

The standard bluetooth iPhone control is a bit hit and miss so I've been wanting to have Apple CarPlay fitted. Unfortunately since the car wasn't spec'd with enhanced bluetooth I couldn't buy it from BMW. Plus, since it's a now subscription at £89 a year I thought **** that!

So I bought a coding cable, a wifi antenna (which is needed for APC) and some trim removal tools and set about removing the OEM stereo unit. Took about half an hour and pretty simple to do. I then set about coding in APC which took another 10-15 minutes with the engine running. All in around £125.

Audio quality and control via APC is much improved as is Google Maps versus the BMW Navigation which seems to want to get on the closest motorway and ignores better routes home. Very happy although I think I'm going to spend the extra and get it full screen as I end up getting obsessed with the economy.

Speaking of economy, took it easy on the way home without booting it and stuck to 75 on the cruise control. Impressive for the engine that’s in it.

Opinions on a 5gt?

Looks wise I agree it’s not a good as a 5 touring. But has more boot space than the 5 saloon and with seats forwards not far off the 5 touring.

Good deals as they aren’t popular aswell.

Opinions? Am I crazy?

It's a great car and looks aside there is nothing wrong with them at all.

I would not spend 25k on one though. That's very bad value when the 6 Series GT starts at 30k at a year old.

I didn't pay much more than that for my 2015 530d - when it was a year old back in 2016!

I see what you mean. budget won’t stretch to the 6gt. I’ll see what I can do price wise. I think that car has been hanging around so may be able to get some money off.

I’ve got the same problem with the f11/g31. Wife argument is that we should just get the 2.0 newer car whereas I prefer the 530d!

I paid £23k for a late 2014 F10 530d with 12k miles from BMW Cheltenham in April 2017. So I agree that does appear expensive.

that's nice , so you have lossless 16/44.1 music from your iphone ... obviously - no worry that BMW might revoke that if you took it in for a service.

Yea, there is always something nicer for another £5k! But what it does do is highlight that a 2015 5GT is exceptionally poor value at a £25k pricepoint. That particular car is a very nice specification which is I suspect why the dealer is holding out for such an optimistic price.

It's 'Coming Soon' which I suspect means its quite fresh!

I was about to mock you for 20 grands worth of pre facelift F10 but WOW @ the specification of that. Absolutely nuts!

Edit: Actually when you look at it, it seems to have loads of options you've like for 5 minutes and then never care about again (4 zone AC, heated rear seats, rear screens, rear blinds) but few of the really great ones to have - no cameras, for example. And being a pre LCI the high beam assist is sadly the basic pointless one
