They will pay the licence to Apple to use it in the cars.
I’m fairly positive they don’t. Or at least if they do it’s tiny and certainly not on a per car basis. They will pay the licence to Apple to use it in the cars.
https://www.imore.com/bmw-why-apple-should-build-carplay-ios-12I'd like to see something simpler and more flexible: I'd like to see Apple make CarPlay available directly in iOS.
You should be able to take an iPhone — or iPad, if you want something bigger — and mount it on your dashboard, and have it go into CarPlay-style interface mode.
Or just use android which already has had it for yearsinteresting idea here, so we can stick it to the man

I can discrimante a high quality source in a car. ]I think it's funny that in such a noisy environment such as a car people think source quality matters
Mine is very flakey. Also you can play podcasts if you play them on the phone, but I can’t see a way to browse via the cars’ interface.
You need to plug the phone in with a cable and have the BMW apps interface.
That car will play Spotify through either usb or Bluetooth and allow track skipping. If you have an iPhone and the car has BMW apps interface then you can do full Spotify integration on idrive. Can be a bit flakey though.
should be bluetooth if carplay is disabled - have(can?) you looked to see what codec it usesYou get full wireless Spotify control with the later I-drive systems
Wouldn’t be surprised if a deal was done with apple where they point blank refuse to support android auto if the license fee is waivered. They will pay the licence to Apple to use it in the cars.

Lack of android auto support is such a ball ache!

[ which codecs are best ]
I’m in wrong thread for that as my car has CarPlay and Android Auto.
Also Bluetooth streaming, including album art, in case you want Spotify through neither of those systems or even the Incontrol apps native screen mirroring (that’s only really now useful for shell payments).
Was £200 option as it launched but it tending to be standard on JLR vehicles.
The upgraded Jlr systems seem quite good but the stock systems are still crapI was having play with the system in a new Range Rover Sport it is very good JLR has finally got a system I would say is as good as BMW/Audi/Merc even better in some aspects the dual screen CarPlay control is the best implementation I have seen of it. I also noticed they have got better software on the autobox. Did JLR steal software engineers from BMW/Audi ?
