BMW and M Power Owners

I find the quick flashing of brake lights more effective. You can see that out of the corner of your eye much more easily than hazards. Saved me once as I was fiddling with the radio and I saw the C Class in front of me flashing the brakes.

Surely any safety feature is one worth keeping?

Really? I've had them come on once in 70k miles, when I had to stand on the brakes for some traffic lights changing I'd not noticed until quite late:o

I agree the fast flashing is a better method of warning to other cars though.

It only does it when it detects an emergency stop. You need to be braking really hard to trigger it, which isn't a routine thing is it?
No. But sometimes you do stand on the brakes and obviously it’s annoying on a track day or such like

Got our 68 F31 320d in May and it's great apart from every time the start stop comes on it jolts to a stop, more so than any car I've driven. Is this normal behaviour for it? I've tried the ignition off, accelerator in for 30 secs, wait 2 mins drive thing and it seems to reduce a bit for about 30 mins then comes back on.

Any tips? Normally it's fine due to commute being mostly motorway/a roads but at the start I have stop start traffic through a single lane bridge and junction..

I've found on my G30 540i the stop/start kicks in fractionally before the car comes to a halt. Combined with auto-hold it means either coming to an abrupt halt when the engine cuts out or easing to a standstil and having the engine restart. The timing of the engine cutout [before stopping] suggests to me it might be fixable via a software update but I've adjusted my braking technique slightly so it isn't a problem. It's only three months old so will wait for first service to come up and mention it to the dealer.

If you are routinely braking hard enough to trigger the hazard warning lights something is very wrong with your driving.

I've gotta agree with this?

You've got to have a right stomp on to trigger it. I've had it come on on trackdays and when emergency stopping for an animal/car/person in the road. I can't say that it coming on is such a frequent occurrence that it annoys me and if it is coming on enough to be annoying, perhaps you should calm your driving down a bit?!

Only happened a few times but thing is you brake hard and stop and then you have to manually turn off the hazards.

DD Coding? 6 miles away. Will call tomorrow. Respect :)

Yeah think his name is Adam.

In all honesty, if you're the sort of person who just owns BMW's. Something like Carly/bmwprotool is a very good small investment to own. bmwprotool more so. As you can code replaced modules etc.

@hurfdurf sadly I don't know if anyone that way. But you could says try owner groups/FB groups and see if anyone near by can code. That's how most do it.

Good point! I'm a fanboy for life :D guess it is about time I got my laptop dirty...

Protool doesn't look to support F numbers yet.

Carly does, coding options listed below - possibly under "warnings"?
