There is also no other type of service plan anymore.
I got the 5 year/50k mile pack with my M135i which was £550 (got three services out of it) and I also got it with the M3 (though it was already with the car). That was £1100, but it got 5 services worth (running in, minor, major, minor & diff)
3 year one has gone. But as you said was poor value anyway.
Prepaid version is fine. You use the service items as and when needed. It's just an instalment plan with a discount. Only thing to remember is that if you attempt to use an item before you've built up enough credit, they will ask you to pay the difference then and reduce your future instalments.
Also if you live in a location where dealers charge loads, then the benefit is even greater.
I'm confused with the serviciing now, clicked on the link further up and put the reg in and it reckons i need a major service:

I get the age of my car it will be due it as its a 2013 but it's only done 41k miles. According to the cars servicing it doesn't need anything but oil and vehicle inspeaction in May 2021/ 8k miles.
I only do about 5k miles a year at a push so the serviceable parts are not likely to be well worn for the next one.
Example being the brake fluid this was done just before i picked up the car. with the current Covid i reckon i'll have done around 1500-2000 miles by May

It can only guess as it doesn't know your exact service record. You can phone up and get the dates properly set up.
The dates are also only estimates. The CBS decides when the service happens.
Also a major service only shows up as an oil change in a car anyway (it is every second service). There is no separate indicator. The clue (I believe, although some can correct me) is that the vehicle check service is always in sync with the major service.
You are free to ignore the CBS, but you probably don't want the service plan then.

I'll give Lloyds in Lindale a call nearer the time and start putting a bit of money away each month for it. The car's got a years warranty so will be using BMW for the first year, after this i will try and continue using BMW or an Independent BMW specialist. Suppose should i need to sell it then full BMW will be better.
I'd find out now. Sounds like you could be facing a £500 major oil service + £100 vehicle check (reduced prices because of age of car).
On the BMW servicing online, from what I've seen dealerships will never do just an oil service, they will say you have to do the microfilter every service.
Also find a dealership you can take your own oil. Can save a notable amount vs their retail.

My e92 me is due a 'big' service in a couple of thousand miles. According to their website it's going to be ~700. Can that be reduced by using the pay monthly option or have I left it too late?
Everything is condition based. What do you think it needs ?
Spark plugs are expensive at BMW but £80 in parts and a DIY for example. Rest is oil and micro filters. Now they are in older car pricing I don’t think it’s too bad to keep BMWFSH going

The shocks and springs are M3 ones, subframe appears to be in good shape as well.
30k miles into it now, nothing above stock M3 parts.
Usual servicing, fuel pump, water pump and a couple of cracked rear coils which is pretty common.
Just needs some tidying up - corrision on boot lid.
I have no idea of value really, it's not going to attract the normal E46 M3 buyer - I may get £5000 for it or someone may pay more!

I think it's due spark plugs so that's why I think it will be expensive. I might ring them and see how much. I've got the extended warranty so I'm wary of them using anything as a get out clause.
CBS doesnt mean each individual component is looked at to see if it needs replacing.
If it's time for the major service according to the car then everything will be done.
It is never too late, you just get asked to pay most of it upfront when you go to service the car.
However it's (£25 x 36 months) for a 3 series. Not as good value.

It does mean that. I have a receipt for BMW doing the plugs at 26k. At 34k in my ownership they tried to change them again, even after scanning my key.
CBS is not like inspection services where things like plugs are changed no matter what. The fact you said ‘major service’ shows you misunderstand CBS

It doesn't. Spark plugs are changed every 2nd or 3rd oil service depending on the model.
