Hmm interesting, dropping the fronts to 2.6 and rears to 2.2, will keep close eye on the wear as I've just ordered a depth gauge from Amazon

I've dropped mine slightly, Series 2 GC M235i, and will also keep an eye on the depths...

Just been out and checked and iDrive says it should be 2.7 front and 2.2 rear, I wonder if the latest update changed it then as on the thread on BabyBMW in Jan was saying higher than that was recommended.

There is a tyre pressure label on the drivers door shut b pillar to compare with if you didn't know this already. I deal with psi but 2.7 is 39psi, if I'm correct, which is very high..

Yep, 39psi which to me seems excessive. Based on babybmw forum users, for many the sweet spot seems to be around 34psi front and 32psi rear.

Manual doesn’t bother me, I’ve driven manuals since I passed my test 25 years ago. There aren’t many 428’s anyway, never mind 428i GC’s.

Just so I understand BMW labelling, is the GC the 4 door version of the 3 door version of the 4 door car?

hatchback boot, but slightly lower rear headroom.
if not carrying rear passengers often, the hatchback boot of the 4GC > 3 series any day.

I remember an old girlfriends Dad saying how one of his Vectra's was miles better than the other. Didn't realise one was a hatchback.

It's actually considerably more practical than the 3 Series because it has a large rear hatch instead of a saloon boot. It's almost as big as a 3 Series touring in terms of load space whilst retaining more coupe like styling.

The manual gearbox is ok, the auto is arguably the best conventional automatic gearbox you can buy. I'd seek the auto out over the manual.

I agree, really liked the 428i coupe I tried, but petrol GC’s aren’t that common and 95% of them are 420i’s. There is this one https://www.hammondcarsuk.com/used-bmw-4-series-ipswich-suffolk-3526538 but it’s really over my max budget by about £1k.
