BMW and M Power Owners

I sometimes regret not getting an e93 over the e92 M3, but imo it's ready a bit underpowered, and the extra weight wouldn't have helped. In something turbocharged with a bit more grunt I can see it making sense. What I don't get is convertible diesiels, do people like listening to tractors?

Did you drive both? Granted the convertibles have a bit of scuttle shake over bumps due to the roof being down but at no point is there a feeling of being underpowered on the road! Still well under 5s to 60 for the convertibles as well. Perhaps you'd notice on trackday times but on the road? Certainly not! Give me a naturally aspirated engine that hits 8000rpm over a turbo any day of the week as the sense of speed and fun is far greater and how the cabin resonates with the engine through the rpm range. Personal preference though of course

He owns one. Maybe he doesn’t take it past 4000. Any car that needs revs always gets called underpowered it seems

anyway 4 seater convertibles are always tragic to look at. I imagine the noise is amazing though.

It goes to the limiter everyday, still feels slow. It's definitely underpowered below 4,000 revs:D. My last car was twin turboed so that's why it feels slow. It'd relative, I'm sure the guy with the 900hp rs6 would get used to it (if it could be "ragged" without going silly speed).

I'm viewing an F80 M3 tomorrow locally at BMW, beyond the obvious things to look for is there anything I should be asking/checking? The car IMO is overpriced however I have taken some screenshots of similar AUC cars which are cheaper and printed them out and will take them in and use as examples of hopefully getting a better price.

The skinny rear headrests take away any meatiness from the look really on modern 4 seat verts but the E46 did it right because the explosive anti roll bars were integrated into the headrests making them thicker than the front headrests:

I have to say though, having 4 usable seats for adults and a big boot roof up or down has been hugely helpful over the years for weekends away visiting family all over the country.

unfortunately (and as you know) my view on the e46 is that it's actually probably the worst-converted convertible in terms of aesthetics - it's like they re-used the e36 rear quarter for the convertible instead of the e46, it's too "flat".

The f83 manages it a lot better.

I don't think it's too fat personally, think it's just about right, and as it has a big boot and generous rear seating space ... it is rightfully proportioned. Proportion wise it's no different to the coupe on all body panels below the roof line.

Don't think I've known anyone to suggest that an M Sport/M facelifted E46 is anything less than well proportioned. No matter what the guise.

Certainly don't think the E93 was an improvement. But hey, we're all allowed our opinions :D

not fat, flat. the shape of the coupe rear is really nice, the back of the convertible from the boot lid to the rear wheel is just flat and loses the curvature of the coupe. Looks like someone just took a hacksaw to the roof

I test drove 3 and all of them had very obvious interior rattles. If you go for it and it has any rattles, push the dealer to get them fixed. It's not something that used to bother me but it's become a real bugbear of mine.

Almost all 4-seat convertible versions of coupes look like this IMO...

Generally agree, but feel they at least made a bit of an effort to have some flowing lines on the f82 for example - the one above does look pretty decent (notwithstanding driving dynamics, I've not driven either so couldn't comment).

Had a good look at this today and drove it for around an hour. I still love the M feeling, it's on another level to a normal BMW. The front end is almost as keen as my FD2 is which is saying something. This one has a whole host of options - Surround view, HK audio, M Performance exhaust, blindspot warning, front collision detection, lane departure warning, HUD, F1 style steering wheel, tracker, piano black trim plus the obvious individual colour. There's probably something I've forgotten. Downsides for me is the mileage is a little higher than I'd like, I'm not a huge fan of the F1 wheel, I'd have preferred carbon trim and I am not 100% sure on black interior. I'd really like to see one with red or white leather in the flesh but with that said it is lovely. I've told them I'll let them know tomorrow if I'm moving forward with it. It still needs to go through prep as it has some curbed alloys and chips on the front.

I do like the colour, anything that's not white/black or silver (I'll allow the primer grey that's quite common as I like it).

Love that colour!
