BMW and M Power Owners

The current S4 has the devil's engine and fake exhausts because of the pee box mounting. Tacky from Audi...
Weirdly I don’t mind the S = Diesel RS = Petrol thing that Audi are doing. Makes sense to me, the S is for people who just want a faster car, the RS is a proper hot model with more tuning

Very different driving styles. What sort of journeys and mileage do you do? I’d imagine on a long run you could crack 40mpg on a 235i but around town you’ll be looking at high teens compared to even a 435d.

During the week (Sunday evening-Thursday morning) I only do short trips to work but at the weekends I’m averaging around 300 miles spread over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning while I’m out with my camera.

Very different cars tbh

2 series - very little space but more nimble

4 series - more grown up but suits the 35d more as it's more of a cruiser and better for longer journeys

That’s the main downside for my mate is the limited space you get, that’s really the only negative he’s said about the car.

As above, different cars. What do you like about the M235i? The engine? Then get a 435i/440i

Yeah the engine is very good, loads of torque and the exhaust note is nice but I reckon any louder and it soon becomes tiring on longer trips.

Anyone know how to swap Napster for spotify in iDrive
I had it set to spotify when I bought the car but wanted to see what the napster integration was like.....I prefer spotify but its disappeared..... Only option under connected music is Napster now....

So the wife has told me she wants a 3 series. Been trying to find a 320i m sport bit they seem to be like rocking horse poop at a max budget of 13k

So I've been looking at 320d m sport.

Is there anything I need to check it's got or had done before buying? At that price, I'm looking at a 2012-2014 with 50-80k on the clock.

Thanks for any advice

Check the timing chain for sure - the newer the car, the more likely it has better components (tensioner etc)

Was solved completely with the LCI model.

Great car though - the torque makes day to day driving so easy.

Yeah my mate mentioned something about that. He has a 2013 and said it got fixing with the engine he has. How can I tell the difference?

Do you know what milage the belt should be done at?

I don’t believe it has been - I thought that components were strengthened over each revision of the N47 but it was the B47 which solved it.

I’m trying to think how best to describe it, but it’s essentially where the chain has become slightly loose - so you’re hearing the slack in the system.

Also, with it being a diesel, see if you can get a feel for the types of journeys it has done. If it’s a 7 year old car with 40k miles, chances are it’s mostly short journeys, rather than infrequent long journeys.

Get some redex advanced cleaner too to help clean out injectors.

Thanks for that. Much appreciated.

I managed to get a test drive of a 435d today and while it's a nice car, plenty of power and a good size i have decided it's not for me.

I wouldn't say i felt underwhelmed by it but more so that it didn't give me that wow factor i'd built myself up to expect after watching loads of reviews.

That just leaves me to try out an M135i or i skip that and get the M235i.

Must say my 428i is plenty fast enough for every day use and can be somewhat frugal on a longer run too. I think it may be the sweet spot or performance and running costs.

Yep, and the LCI 30i will be better still, with the more efficient gearbox and engine :-)

You don’t really need any quicker than ~6s to
60.

Not sure a 35/40i is going to give you a wow factor either though. It’s the same car with a petrol engine

It’s not like an M car, which is a totally different beast.
