BMW and M Power Owners

When we got ours we just rang up and went straight over to see it. No deposit needed, just viewed, checked it over and even got a little bit off cos of a slight ding on the rear quarter. Paid £19k back in May i think it was, M140i with a lot of extras but unfortunately its white lol.
Just means cars magically get out of your way on the motorway!

Ta for that, 26th July 2021

I'd be more concerned with why nobody else has bought it for 3 months than any chance of it vanishing by the weekend - perhaps that tells you something about why they're being funny about the deposit - maybe a lot of people have viewed and walked away?

Given that duration, it might also be worth putting the reg into TotalCarCheck, on the preview page before you pay for a proper check, it'll report any adverts it has seen for the car - you might find it was originally advertised cheaper (something I noticed with a few AUC cars I was looking at) which will help indicate to you how much bargaining power you might have with them.

especially if you want one a bit newer and lower mileage https://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/vehicle/202106183969178
Sadly if you want a new shape 4 Series GC the top spec is currently 430i at £50k with M-sport Pro (like the one you linked to) with probably a 25+ week wait.

That 440i at £38k, available now, with very low miles, one year old and a few more options is probably priced about right.

It's absolutely silly money and anyone buying it needs a word with themselves. The difference between the old and new 4GC is significant and we must not lose sight of the fact that in reality a 4GC is simply a 3 Series with a hatchback instead of a boot. The new 3 Series is easily attainable for £38k - a 330i new shape begins at around £30k

The F30 3 Series - of which the 4GC is a 5 door hatch version - came out in 2011. The idea of spending £38k on a car that dated now is amusing, hence the reaction the one linked has got. It's a perfect example of how silly the car market has got.

Just because that's what something currently sells for doesn't mean its a good idea to pay that for it.

Yes, the difference is significant - there is £20k difference between the two, which is also significant.
I checked Carwow and dealers are only offering £1.5k off the new M440i GC £55.5k basic list price.

This is partly caused by the strange used car market and partly caused by the odd product life cycle of the 4 Series.

Remember, despite being literally a hatchback 3 Series it was 2 years between the launch of the 3 Series and the launch of the 4 Series Gran Coupe. This means that at the other end of the products life, you get this situation whereby the 4 Series continues in production for a further 2 years alongside the brand new thoroughly modern miles better 3 Series (Because BMW always try to get 7 years out of a platform). This means that even before the weird car market problems people buying late model 4 Series were paying big money for an old car - the current situation has only added it to.

To anyone with £38k - buy literally any car other than a 4 Series. You'll be grateful in the long run. It's a really awful car to buy with that budget.

If you have £38k burning a hole in your pocket and you really want a 6 cylinder BMW go and buy this instead and then laugh all the way home at how much better it is than that 4GC:

Yep, I get it.
My previous Manager got a new 3 Series (E92) Coupe in 2012 and was shocked when it arrived as he thought he was getting an F30 interior.

That's defo the choice if you aren't bothered about a Coupe or a hatch back. That's some talking to convince a buyer to spend another £2k on a saloon, who is set on a Coupe though.

But at least it has Shadowline plus :D

Sorry, where have you seen the lead time on 4GC being 12+ months? I thought it was closer to 5?
Not sure about four series but some 128ti lease orders placed in May and June this year have now been told their cars haven’t even been allocated build slots and it’s likely to be March or April next year before delivery. Not 12 months it’s true though.
