BMW and M Power Owners

Can anyone help with this issue please?
All speaker sound on my dads 6 series (F12) has suddenly stopped - including Radio, CD, voice control & parking sensors.
I’ve tried the obvious fixes; infotainment re-boot, check sound settings, no mute but those didn’t resolve it.

Any ideas?

Sadly from the beginning of 2021, in the UK only, if you want the £3,500 B&W stereo you have to have the £2,400 LED panoramic sunroof as well. So it becomes a £5,900 option.
sounds like a semiconductor shortage wheeze ... how much do you really want that nice dsp/chips

Hardly anyone ever specified the B and O stereo anyway, it's pointlessly over the top for a car and cost a ridiculous amount of money anyway. BMW are somewhat unique in having two different higher end branded stereo options anyway. I'm not sure I really understand why they bother.

I can’t imagine the HK system in the X5 sounds bad. My F10 was like a mobile disco!

Does it have the HK system ? If so the amp is in the boot first thing to check for is water ingress.

Depends what you’re used to.

The HK system has copious amounts of mid bass but often lacks in mid range and the treble is a little sharp for me

But with a bit of EQ you can mostly sort it out.

That being said, I thought the B&O system in the 5 series sounded phenomenal.

because the HK can’t be specked at the moment due to shortages and is no longer on the option list for the last 6 months so if you want an upgraded stereo your only choice is the b&o. So they penalise you by making you get it with a £2400 sunroof nobody wants of becomes a £6k option

They offer Bowers & Wilkins these days, not Bang & Olufsen? I have it and while it’s quite good it’s really not worth the price tag. At a normal day to day volume level you wouldn’t know any difference from a standard stereo, quite good when it’s really pumping but the bass is quite lacking considering how much it cost.

It’s funny, in the old days all we did was stick a couple of 6x9s in the parcel shelf and a Kenwood/Pioneer/Alpine/Clarion head unit upfront and we were golden :D

We've HK in the X5 and its pretty good. I have B&W in the M5 and its better (when pushed) but I think at my age with older hearing i'd be hard pushed to really justify speccing it if I was budget limited. Now back in my younger days when competing in soundoff's at car shows with 150+db. I could tell the difference but the cost over performance isn't really there.

Well The B&W has Lights so defo needs it

lol

Problem is KH is no longer an option so its either stock BMW hifi or the B&W.

Further support for the 'Dont buy a car unless you really need to at the moment' thought process then :D

Yeah maybe you are right but would still mich rather buy a new one than pay almost the same price for a used one up to a year old.

Going to feel sorry for people looking at buying 3/4 year old used cars in the futures, they are going to be missing so many features.

or, it could be a steroid injection for aftermarket stereos - free for life android auto/car-play, decent discrete dsp based parametric equalizer,
whilst looking at auto-bild tyre reviews, noted they still review them ... couldn't do it on PCP though
