BMW and M Power Owners

Was going to suggest perhaps they'd dropped a tool on to it or nipped it getting it on to the lift. Whatever it was has cut the tyre slightly so would need to have been a fairl impact.

^^one big thing to keep in to account is temperature. Not sure where you are Matty but Greebo where you are is still pretty damn cold, especially at night, isn't it?
In the North west mate. By the sea but not quite as North as Blackpool.. To be honest though its been like that since last August so I think Greebo is correct with the estimated based on previous driving

I’m not even looking at my mpg atm. TBH I drive everywhere in Sports Plus mode, so I’m not helping my case. Once my tank gets low, I start using the wife’s car, so I’m eeking out my petrol station visits :D

It’s not like I thought a 4.4 V8 would be cheap to run, but I don’t like paying increased costs just because some mad man wanted to go to war over a land grab.

I’ve recently bought a bmw m140i and I’m looking to find out what tyres everyone is using ? It’s currently running Michelin pilot sport 4s also what offset of wheel gives the car a better wider stance ? Any info greatly appreciated

If you have standard wheels, then your choices are limited in terms of the best tyres. They don't come in many 18" sizes anymore.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport which are the stock tyre, was the best Michelin tyre when it came out a long time ago now (UUHP).

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 which is what you have installed currently, which is Michelin's current premium although not the UUHP tyre. It is a bit worse than the MPSS in the dry but much better in the wet. It is being currently replaced by Michelin Pilot Sport 5 (which is what I'd say to go for).

Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Sport, which is a UUHP tyre and so better than the MPS4 and a competitor to the MPS4S (below).

Unfortunately you cannot get Michelin's current UUHP tyre, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S in 18" sizes that fit the M140i unless you go skinny tyres.

Comparison of the last 2 tyres.

It makes absolutely no sense that the mid range tyre would offer better grip than the uhp tyre. It's the entire point of the Pilot Sport 4 range?

I have Pilot Sport 4 on one car and Primacy on the other...

Yup.. Went to fill it up. got back home and went to fill it back up again.... Rinse and repeat

Needed to fill up on the way back on the A50 1.99 for the good stuff... it got a splash and dash.
Fuel should be coming down 10p or so a litre this week. Oil has gone form 138 to 97 but is back at 107 now. So we "should" see some savings

Thoughts and advice welcome... especially Fox...!

Today I went to view an 18 month old~ M2 Competition, Approved Used at a BMW main dealer. Great spec, very good condition, drove well. I said fine and agreed to buy it.

After signing a few documents the salesman says "by the way, it's got a £3.5k suspension upgrade" - I then go outside and look at the front springs, which are yellow - possibly Ohlins?

So at that point I'm thinking:

- Aren't BMW AUC cars meant to be standard?

- Surely BMW can't warranty aftermarket parts?

- Will they not blame anything they can on the suspension being modified in the event of a claim?

I put these points to him and he said it's an 'approved manufacturer' so all fine and won't invalidate anything. I don't believe that. He never said who the manufacturer were, or who fitted them.

Should BMW even be selling this car when it's been modified like this? I know some people may like that, but the warranty is a critical part of the deal for me, and I want it iron-clad.

So I am currently concerned and somewhat disappointed, opinions please...!

Other than the M Performance kit, I think only AC Schnitzer parts would be covered by BMW. Certainly used to be when I had BMW install their kit on my M3.

I wouldn’t trust a salesman, but it might help to know which kit has been fitted. Olins will be a pretty decent kit, if not the best, but I can’t see them being covered by BMW down the road. I suppose you could ask for it in writing.

If it was an M Performance Exhaust on an M140i, fitted at BMW, I would understand, but as you say, this is quite different.

I'll have to investigate further and see what they say... but I am more than a bit dubious at the moment.
