BMW and M Power Owners

PSS are a UHP tyre, they are not track-focussed. More of a summer tyres. Cup 2 is the track focussed tyre.

The PS4S is a better UHP tyre, albeit with slightly less feel/feedback than PSS, but more grip in the wet/cold.

PS5 is not a PS4S replacement!

I'm going to put * marked PS4S on my M3 in the spring. PSS are bloody fantastic in the summer and they feel great, but as mentioned above, I can't even pull out of a parking space on a cold day in December and we weather performance is frankly diabolical.

Cheers, I thought rain related too as it's ****** it down for 3 days

Its got a recall outstanding as well as MOT so will give them a shout

I'd check for water ingress in the boot/skuttle panel, it isn't covered by the extended warranty and can get expensive if a few modules get damaged by the water.

Might not be water ingress but better to catch it early before permanent damage is done.

Is the * that big a deal...? I upped a size on mine due to the grip issues (yer, I know...lots of discussion on validity etc.) and they were only available in non BMW * versions.

255/35/R19 & 275/35/R19 instead of 245 & 265s.

They have a different set of compounds on them compared to standard PS4S the main difference seems to be on edges where they have a similar compound to CUP 2 so you get better turn in/grip compared to the standard PS4S but at the expensive of slightly poorer wet weather performance. Seems a good balance for performance BMWs over the lethal PSS and CUP 2s in the winter/wet months.

In saying that I've had an issue with my front ones where on the inner edge of both front tyres the compound has started to crack in the middle of all the tread blocks after 10k ish and 18 months, I have read this is also a problem with the CUP 2s in cold weather. I'm in the process of putting a claim in to Michelin it's not something I've see an issue reported online so mine may be a one off.

Ah so they are actually different then - that's a bit surprising tbh. I kind of assumed it was a brand-up-the-price kinda thing. A bit how the fuel filler cap for my M3 was 45 quid but the same one for the 335 was 20.

I have the driving skills of a potato so i don't think it's an issue I'm likely to come across tbh aha.

Have to say though I really didn't like the M2C on PSS. It was a complete pain in the ass.

I have PSS on the M850i I bought a few months ago. Worrying, and I don't fancy dropping £1.2k or so on a different set at the moment. Guess I'll just have to be careful!

Thanks will do

I think the approved used warranty is better then the extended so if I find anything hopefully covered, hope not though as car is pretty immaculate (2018 model)

Went to Newcastle from Central Scotland and back again in my 428i GC. It's a very good long distance cruiser. 46MPG sticking to the speed limit on the Cruise Control too.

The M5 is due for its first oil change and microfilter. Best part of £500. Next one has Plugs too and is nearing £1400....
Need two front tyres as I had to get Pirellis when I got a puncture in spain instead of MP4S's

Well worth it though. Mental car

I’ve managed three winters with them, they’re fine if you drive to the conditions and don’t do anything silly.

I don’t think you drive yours every day though do you ? 3 winters is a how amount of miles ?

I found the PSS to be pretty bad in cold/rain tbh and you aren’t going to be able to avoid an emergency stop. But I agree they aren’t worth replacing £1.2k of tyres

Most important on XDrive, as the * rated tyre is guaranteed to be compliant with the rolling diameter tolerances.

On a RWD it's preference over necessity

Woke to some damage and a note this morning, I've contacted Tim and thanked him for actually leaving the note, he accepts responsability but says I parked inconsiderately, not leaving enough room for him to get out (He drives a large scrap metal type van with the big metal cage around it) which was on his (very tight) driveway which he was reversing out of at the time.

I've gotten a quote, £880 total, for new genuine rear spoiler and tailgate lamp inc fitting, there doesn't appear to be any bodywork damage. Tim want's to keep it out of insurance companys hand's which I'm glad of, but he'd like me to pay 1/4 (£220).. He's a genuine old guy and I do feel for him a bit considering the size of the bill for such a small bump.
What say you ocuk motors? Should I stand my ground and insist he pays it all or should I chip in too?
