BMW and M Power Owners

@pallys tell them to ring the warranty company direct to confirm.

What we found with our F56 Mini was a massive divide between dealerships and the warranty company, with the dealerships trying it on at every turn and then us having to resort to contacting the warranty company, them laughing about it, and telling us to go back to the dealership and educate them.

4 series frameless windows don’t like the cold.

Having to use a jug just to get the window to drop down so I can shut the door.

Goes without saying for most frameless windows using silicone spray or Gummi Pfledge is recommended..
My main issue on my 4 is the boot opening tbh. The frame less windows aren't too bad. Screen heater not great first thing either. I miss my Ford quickclear front screen.

First time driving my m140 in freezing conditions today. yeah the pilot super sports don't work. Just trying to pull out of a junction gently gets massive wheelspin and not much movement!
Whereas I’ve had great fun in my M340i on run flats :D

Yup, can’t even pull out of Tesco parking spaces, DCT makes it even worse.

Had a similar experience with my pilot super sports today until they warmed up. Gentle acceleration up a slope (admittedly on a very recently resurfaced road) and the steering went light.

Getting rid of those tyres transformed my M2C tbh. I was really struggling with it on the PSS. Not just the stupid 'wheel spin up the gentle slope out of our underground garage' or trying to get out from roundabouts etc., it just really removed my confidence in the car. I don't pretend to be a great driver, I don't drive in such a way that lol omg skids are a thing. It just felt on the PSS that I didn't have a choice.

Switching to the PS4S is the best thing I've ever done to this car. Traction isn't something I think about now. Now and again the traction will come on but that's because I now trust it so will leave it to do its thing.

Saw an M3 Touring today; didn't realise they were already available. Beefy!

I'm struggling with these. I've done about 3.5k miles in the last year. I do not need one of these but I need one of these. I should probably just get an M340 touring tbh. BUT. Man maths.

I’ve got 4.5mm left on my MPSS, I’ve been looking at the CS7 as an option as well as the PS4S BMW * marked. I do avoid driving it in colder weather due to how bad the tyres perform. I’m concerned I’d lose the sharp front end and feel of the car though.

I enquired, I couldn't justify paying £1300/month for one (and that was with a decent deposit)!

After 15 years of driving, and owning 14 cars, I've finally, in the midst of the massive price gap between the cheaper petrol fuel, bought a diesel car.

2007 X5 SE 30d, picked it up for £5.5k yesterday. 109k miles with FSH.

Spec is a touch light, has the all the important xenons, and best colour Space Grey; it's also the shadow line exterior which removes the chrome.

First impressions are great, clearly night and day between the R8 which is exactly what it was bought for (have decided the R8 is to be kept for weekends over this winter), engine isn't going to set the world alight but will have no issues keeping up with traffic and overtaking where needed, super comfortable ride quality, ancient tech of course but I'm used to that with our three cars all being of a similar age.

Have heard positive things about the M57 engine but if anyone has any ownership advice, it'd be much welcome.

Already have a trip planned to the Lakes before the end of the year :)

Worth it to be able to drive it all year round.

Do it. M340i is just a fast, sorted 3-Series. M3 is on another level, and you know it ;)

I've got PS4S on my 440i with MPPSK (~380bhp no LSD), and even though my rears are almost expired now it's still very driveable in the current conditions. Last year when they were nearly new they were incredible coming from ~6mm run flats, absolutely transformed the car.

If there is nothing to say they have been sorted already first and foremost would be swirlflap removal. Follow that up with a new crankcase breather just in case that has been neglected. Other than that make sure it gets up to temperature and keep an eye on the glowplugs, if one of the thermostats (EGR or main) or the glowplugs fail it will stop a DPF regeneration because the system requires certain perameters to be met before it will activate a regeneration. Luckily the latter isn't such an issue for someone driving an old croker of an M57 like mine in my E46! Swirlflaps and crankcase breather were done within a few weeks of me owning the E46, I was taking no chances, in fact I'm pretty sure I ordered swirl flap blanks in advance of buying the car. Oil changes every 10-12k is my rule of thumb for servicing and not the 18k as suggested by the OBC. Much later down the line vacuum lines may need replacing.

Mine does need the main thermostat and glow plugs replacing which I'll get booked in very shortly, but even then it still starts up first turn of the key with 206k on it in current temperatures.

Generally, they are solid engines, I've seen an E46 330d on eBay with nearly 500k miles on the clock for example. They're not as refined as the later N57, but I just couldn't live with a higher mileage N57 day-to-day wondering if the timing chain is going to snap or if its going to spin a main bearing, which will sound over-dramatic to some, but that's me. Personally, I'd not flinch at buying another M57 engined car with around 100k on the clock.

petrol versus diesel price difference may not endure reputed to be less diesel produced in uk refineries and thus more exposure to exchange rate too, so unless the HGV market goes away,
home market should respond, and purchase will prove judicious.
