BMW and M Power Owners

A standard 5 year service package for a BMW 3 series is £895. In 2021, they discounted these on Black Friday and that's how he got the price he did.

I thought Maccy had an M model which is £45 x 36 months. He obviously doesn’t to get that price. So depending which model BMW you have it can be up to £45 x 36 months.

If it’s £895 for 5 years why does the BMW site say only 3 years.

EDIT: I see it’s not a standard 5 year service package it’s through connected drive.

Wouldn’t be able to get that deal here as there’s only one main BMW dealer and they don’t participate in the connected drive program.

He doesn't have an M model.

The pay monthly plan is a different product - the 5 year package is only available to purchase if you do so before the car has its first service from new. The pay monthly package is available at any time.

It is a standard 5 year service package. Connected Drive is just the retail platform BMW UK use to sell it.

Not really fair to compare Smarts anytime monthly service plan to the connected drive service plan. It should be compared to BMWs anytime monthly plan.

Apologies, I have an M340i - so not a fully fledged M car no. I can't justify the additional cost.

There is no comparison that won't show £900 for 3 years servicing on a Smart to be very expensive, sorry. Certainly not comparing the service pricing of a 1 litre city car to a 3 litre saloon car.

The £899 service pack on the 3 series isn't even a large saving over paying for each service individually either, it isn't some sort of amazing deal.

I reckon I save about £100 on my Smart if I take out a three year service plan over paying for individual services. Paying upfront means I’m sorted for three years and the £793.80 cost is soon forgotten.

Seems a very trivial saving per year, what happens if the car is written off or you need to sell it? All to save £33.33 on avg per year?

I wouldn't be servicing a car at £900 inc normal VAT for 3 years for a used smart car. Seems absurd, but clearly there is a market and demand for it as otherwise they would cut prices.

Also why is servicing for the newer EQ cheaper. It's the opposite of what everyone else does. I'd just go to a standard place to a third party garage.

edit:

Or considering you don't even need to jack the car up do oil changes myself.

With the warranty if you pay annually you get a proportion back if you dispose of the car. I wonder if it's like that?

Yr 4 Warranty for my M2 comp was 875, not that anyone asked :D

I honestly considered a stock ix50 Msport 'Edition' recently.

They've only gone and taken out the standard air suspension due to the semi-conductor shortage. Unbelievable.

Surely one of the biggest selling points of the car? Having wafty air suspension that everyone raves about.

They also took out memory seats, which isn't quite as bad, but would still annoying

It's routine servicing, it literally follows a published schedule.
Yeah but I don’t know how much they will decide to charge on each individual service. Based on previous experience they charged £407 for a major B service. God knows how much they’d charge for minor A and C services but I reckon it would be around £250 for each.

Based on that it would cost me £900 in total if done individually. I also like the peace of mind paying upfront for a service plan gives me.

wow.

I did have a look on the BMW website as connected drive shows me no packages (as it always seems to have) and on the website it's £900 to include 2 services and 1 MOT (same for any 3 series I imagine), I think that's basically almost the identical cost to paying individually.
