BMW and M Power Owners

It does appear to have been removed from the configurator. There has been no 330d since the facelift either - but at least the 3 Series still has the M340d.

They've already stopped the 530i and apparently, the 330i and 430i are going as well :(

What! First I wanted the 330d, now considering the 330i! Looks like I need to make a move.

any reason why BMW UK are removing the sales of the 30i and 30d in the UK? just curious if anyone knows...
leaves a big gap between the 20i/d and the m40i/d

I've heard that the 3.0 litre diesel is no longer available on the 5 series, this true??

I ordered a 530d at Christmas for March delivery, so if this is true my car will be one of the last to be made.
The 3L turbo is one of the best diesel engines ever made and will be sorely missed.

The new 5 series comes out later this year.

Still enjoying my 530d. Brilliant car and about to travel to Normandy with 4 up which will be the true test as at 6 foot I’m the smallest by some margin. Tallest is 6.7’

Question unrelated to the seemingly universal love for the BMW Diesel engine.

Went to Costco to ask about tyres for my 428i GC and they have a Michelin offer on atm but could only get PS5’s in my size for the front axle and PS4’s for the rear axle. Is this a recipe for disaster? Will I hardly even notice? Is there a major difference in wear characteristics and that it’s RWD meaning the rear 4’s will be toast within 6,000 miles for example? I’m not a majorly sporting or fast driver and only do 7-8,000 miles a year these days. i wouldn’t consider different brands, but would also prefer the same tyres all round.

I would argue it is the best.

Can anyone name a better one in a passenger car?
The quad turbo m50d unit before it was discontinued :D

I really miss our old F15 m50d with the triple turbo unit. Soo much awesomness and it was hilarious humilating almost everything that decided to try and outpace it.

I remeber taking a 991 Targa for a test drive and thinking it felt slow and boring compared to our X5.

Head has been potentially turned by some good deals on 2022 plate M5 Comps while I'm debating long term ownership of the C63

One I particularly like, the spec seems largely standard, which admittedly is hardly bad on a car like the M5 anyway. It has a couple of options, 4 zone climate (although can't tell if this is standard) and M Brakes, whatever that means. A few I see have massage seats and soft close doors but other than that, very little variation. I wouldn't mind laser lights but annoyingly, all the nice cars in terms of colour combinations all seem to not have them.

Would a standard spec car be that bad? Would I be missing out on must haves? From what I can tell, I'm getting all the important bits, HK sound, heated seats, 360 camera, comfort access, adaptive LED headlights and CarPlay

If your spending that sort of $$ on an M5 I'd want all the bells.

M5 Comp, Ultimate pack. only thing I could spec extra was a tow bar (which I didn't want anyhow)
Still some bits missing that we have on the X5 though. Heated/Cooled drinks holders and heated arm rests, Would have been nice.
I've always specced up my cars as much as I could... If there is a tick box i need it.......

I’m not buying new and the ultimate pack is rare as rocking horse **** on used cars. 90% of cars I see on used approved are standard spec with maybe massage seats or visibility pack and that’s it

I'm sure you would, but the reality when buying a used BMW is that such cars are sufficiently rare that finding them, especially in the colour combination you want, is very difficult. When you do, there is then a high chance the dealer thinks its worth a huge amount more than the rest of them on sale, so you either need to pay a large premium or wait 5 months until they get fed up of seeing it sitting in the showroom and finally begin to accept reasonable offers. Buying a used car is always a compromise and never is this more the case than when picking the exact combination of optional extras you want.

It's not like an M5 doesn't have a high specification as standard, is it?
