BMW and M Power Owners

Is there a place to get 5L of BMW screenwash from for "cheap" these days? There used to be a dealership in Scotland that would undercut everyone, but I can't seem to find it anymore.

Part number = 83 12 2 409 032

I got my last lot from ebay from a bmw maindealer selling it on there.

EDIt Just checked, paid £14.84 last July, now 50% more and out of stock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just noticed what they say on their advert so looks like its in short supply and prices have rocketed.

Apologies to all regular customers of this screen wash, we are no longer able to buy this product from BMW in bulk. In turn this has had an effect on the price and stock levels.[/stock]

I know people have issues with non-BMW screenwash, but my family have almost solely owned BMWs for 15+ years, and haven't ever had issues with using pre-mixed solutions.

I can see problems occurring from using a concentrated one, which you have to mix with water, as it could incur limescale/calcium buildup, but never had problems with pre mixed stuff.

I use the Halfords berry one, as the scent is also quite nice.

I guess it could be an issue in the south east but with Scottish water it should be fine. No issues in 18 months.

It’s the bacteria growth that’s also an issue with some of the none ethanol ones. Hence the stink and gummed up filters/pipes

didn't think the ebay one you linked had any antifreeze ?
3er -recently went for polygard arctic, with verifiably enough methanol to support -20C neat, in case we have another freeze.

I’ve not had a lot of luck with my 2019 bmw 330i which I bought 6 months ago. In the time I’ve had it I’ve had to take it to the dealership for a software update, all of my windows stopped working and I couldn’t open/close them. My mirrors stopped working and wouldn’t fold in or out or be able to change the angle of the mirrors.

Now I’ve got another problem where the washer fluid isn’t coming out, I hear the pump going but the water isn’t coming out. Bmw are saying it’s a build up of gunk and needs unblocking for a fee of £150. I haven’t filled the screen wash up myself as I’ve heard about not mixing screen wash brands and I don’t drive the car often so the levels are still ok.

I think on a 3 year old car with 6000 miles on it to charge £150 for a blockage which surely shouldn’t happen is unfair. I’ve never had this happen on any of my other cars. With the issues I’ve had with this car I wouldn’t rush out to buy another bmw and it’s a shame as I like the car but think ive been unlucky with its reliability.

Rant over.

Sadly it sounds like the Previous owner put in crap screenwash
The dealer I’ve taken the car to said this is most likely the case and advise I speak to the dealer I bought the car from as it should have been checked before putting the car up as approved used sale. Unfortunately the dealer I bought the car from aren’t willing to help and it’s just something I have to suck up and pay.

Hopefully nothing else goes wrong on the car as I’m quickly losing my love for it. Windows, mirrors, washer jets all breaking/having problems in 6 months. What’s next grr

is there any evidence of gunk in the filler bottle - mine had very evident skin/slime - not as thick as custard , but I used a thin piece of wood to pull it out,
and that is what will be in the non-return valves that are beneath the windscreen jets.

I don’t know. As the car is under warranty I just took it to the dealer as I didn’t want to mess around with anything incase I break something. I’m not confident working on cars so whenever I’ve had an issue I just take it to get sorted. The bmw dealer has said once they unblock it that it should never gunk up again.. we will see!

My M3 (E92) struggled with this hugely, and it was a massive PITA. I'd have to take the front-wheel and wheel lining off to be able to get access to the gunked up part of the tank. I used to use BMW fluid too and still had to clean it repeatedly.

Charged me about a ton the first time, but I was watching what they did and it's not too tricky.

EDIT see what I mean. Why this is B&W is beyond me aha.
