BMW and M Power Owners

Thanks. Did you feel an improvement afterwards.. And was there an issue to begin with.

How much oil was required and how much was the labour cost if you don't mind me asking.

Mine is an Aisin(Toyota?) unit and feels like it running fine for the moment.

@leoncuprar

Good to hear. Same questions as above for you if you could.

Had mine done as routine maintenance and because I was curious to see if I’d notice.

I didn’t really. I did, however, notice an improvement once I’d reset the transmission control unit.

Believe it was £400 ish. Don’t know how much oil it was as they buy a kit which includes the consumables

Thanks bud. Appreciate the info.

This screams LCI E88 135i with DCT to me.

N55 engine which is gorgeous and fairly reliable, slightly newer but still hydraulic steering rack.

Not sure I’d go for an F3x platform and certainly not a diesel 4 series convertible.

The torque of the diesel will get old quick, and you’ll soon find it drives like a boat - the torque wears off quickly.
If I wanted that kind of thing, the M240i has dropped enough in price to be an option an option as well. I'll go and look at some, I do need to squeeze in (occasionally) the older teenage kids, hence probably relegated to the lardier/larger cars.

I expected to hate the 435d as it is literally does not work on paper in anyway, so I was surprised on driving one for 4 days that it made a pretty quick more relaxed capable tourer and even had some fun with the xDrive in getting all that torque down whilst sliding sideways but keeping maximum forward momentum..

It's probably me, I've owned a few cars that people slate for handling, only to find it's not so bad in practice since most people are full of hot air and won't push their cars past 8/10ths so if I am comfortable with it on the limit, that's often enough to make up for the defecit.. hell, in an F25 X3 35d I use to see off quite a few cars in the twisties because most people are caught in a bubble of paper specs and run out of bravado the moment it gets tricky..

But, I hear you all, and my brain is kicking in with the diesel part of convertible.. I've also found some cheaper new E-Class W213's I will go and take a peek, definitely not a sporty option, but interested to see how they drive.. I've only driven an older C207 E-Class convertible (350d) which was a diesel, but you'd never know, that was pure relaxation, you could have the roof down in 5C no problems, but it was very much the opposite of any BMW at the time, and I keep coming back to BMW as I like the blend of sportiness/refinement/engineering.

For me it's not when cars are on their limit where the excitement is, but how the car feels and behaves when not on the limit. You absolutely cannot be on the limit on UK roads safely.

Despite buying the BMW insured warranty on my M850i, still decided to ask a local BMW indie to give it a once over today given the AUC warranty is ending. They were good lads and gave it a thorough check over including bringing me into the workshop to show me what they'd found. They also loved the car. Such a different experience than taking it to my local BMW main dealer. Wish I could take it there instead in future :(
All 4 of my diamond cut wheels are already showing white worm. Pretty annoying considering they were "refurbed" when I bought it a year ago. Decided to get it detailed, ceramic coated + wheel refurb (somewhere decent) over summer. £1400 but should keep it looking good for the next 2 years I plan to own it.

Just had quotes back from my local dealer for the following M2 specs, both with £20k deposit and 8k miles per year, on a 4 year term.

Manual, without the carbon seats as I've read the raised middle part gets in the way for gear changes.

Deposit - £20,000
Term - 4 Year
Mileage - 8,000
Payments - £622.00
GFV - £32,816.2

Auto, with carbon/track pack etc.

Deposit - £20,000
Term - 4 Year
Mileage - 8,000
Payments - £784.37
GFV - £33,800.74

It's both, it's what BMW think it will be worth. I think the GFV is artificially low to drive up monthly payments and the interest they earn from it. I could be wrong though.

Way too much for my pockets with a £20k deposit, guess I'll be rocking about in a 10 year old interior for some time. Might spruce it up with some carbon bits.

If only I could change the mid pipe and put a GTS 'box map on it and keep the warranty! It's plenty fast enough, but I'd like to change the noise of the exhaust and the GTS 'box map is meant to be wonderful.

For the manual £49,856 over the 4 years, then GFV is the baloon payment iirc so total will be 49856 + 32816 = £82,672. That's a hell of a lot for an M2 IMO! Porsche territory

I'd sooner a Cayman GTS but with a child and no rear seats it's not really an option.

Probably run out the warranty on your F80 and make some choice mods would be most cost effective. Crank hub and a litchfield tune + suspension + exhaust
The car is nearly on 40k miles now so turbos are likely due to go soon, hence I am not really wanting to let the warranty expire. I have no interest in more power, just the noise can be frustrating at times (common S55 complaint) & gearbox map.

Not a huge amount of options for 911's if I want a manual, fresh interior and not a 997.

In a darker colour, the grille sort of works. I don't mind it. Looks much better in person!
If I had one it would be IOM green, or Purple Silk again if I could find one. X Drive competition really does tick a lot of boxes.

But carbon buckets don't pass the mrs test, and I miss a manual gearbox l if I'm honest. I don't do many miles, mainly 2h up to Manchester every month and the odd drive blast and there.

Giulia QV (Alfa 'reliability' aside), Lexus LC500 would be cool
I'd be surprised if 40k miles is the service life of turbo's on S55, although with a map that would certainly be reduced
