BMW and M Power Owners

Giulia QV (Alfa 'reliability' aside), Lexus LC500 would be cool
I'd be surprised if 40k miles is the service life of turbo's on S55, although with a map that would certainly be reduced
I just go by the relentless dribble I see on the Facebook owners group.

QV is lovely, I properly, properly like them and I've been speaking to a dealership about new & used options. However a few things put me off such as the dated interior, lack of brighter colour interior options, no manual option I'm aware of etc put me off.

Few IOM G80's for sale. I really ought to go and drive one but still £70k+ on a used M3 is mega money and the AUC APR rates are not favourable either.

Look at an LC500, such a cool car and light on depreciation, 10 year warranty if serviced at Lexus

The car is nearly on 40k miles now so turbos are likely due to go soon, hence I am not really wanting to let the warranty expire. I have no interest in more power, just the noise can be frustrating at times (common S55 complaint) & gearbox map.

Not a huge amount of options for 911's if I want a manual, fresh interior and not a 997.

Just get an M240i instead. Fast enough and much cheaper.

The M240i is considerably more powerful than your M140i was.

You can't tell everyone you've got an M2, obviously, but you don't need to give them £20k and £622 a month either.

It's not a Porsche 911, but neither is an M2.

It's 30 more bhp, hardly considerably more. Plus it's heavier.

As I said, it's not about outright pace, it's how a car feels. My M3 could be as quick as my M140i was, I'd still be happy. Hence I do not want it mapped.

There is a much bigger difference between a 1 series and 3 series though, whereas both the M2 and the M240 are versions of the same car. It is surely worth a test drive at least.

Why on earth would the turbos be knackered so quickly? I would be expecting 100k as long the cars been serviced well.
I guess you'll have to ask a BMW tech that question, or an independent, and not me?

It seems to be a common mileage for the S55 to start consuming more oil which is usually down the seals on the turbo. According to internet experts at least.

Regardless, I don't particularly want to run a turbo M car without warranty in place.

- if you want a hotspot in the car then you've got a phone in your pocket which can provide one with far better data availability at a far better price. The value of the integrated data connection is for the cars connected functions, none of which seem to be unfairly priced and there are no data allowance issues.

problem is the phone is inside the car - if you could use the cars 4g service you get better 4g quality/speed with external aerial - let's have 3Mb/s for decent Tidal cd quality streaming & can also get wifi calling.
Often have calls with family members using phones in cars , not sure if they are using 2g or 4G but their voice quality can often be poor (they don't realise), maybe some of that's down to hands free/Bt implementation, though.

Not atypically, seems the USA bmw consumer has driven a better deal unlimited data via esim in car https://www.t-mobile.com/benefits/bmw-car-wifi-plan at competitive rate
