BMW and M Power Owners

Well, the new i4 is boring the pants off me to be honest .... keep thinking about BM's of yesteryear I have owned, my 2016 535D Touring was a cracker.

Going to be a lot more difficult for brands to obtain and develop an identity for cars.

Only way I can think this will happen is through software. Feels like every company is becoming a software company :(

And even though I work in the IT industry, I’m not (as a consumer) happy about this.

I miss the days where a car was a great car because of the engineering, not because of the software. But I understand why it’s done.

Insurance seems a fair bit. Is it a multi car policy?

Have you tried some of the smaller more boutique insurers? Or BMW’s own?
No just a couple of comparison sites and direct with Aviva (my current provider). I’ll do a proper sit down later and check all the usual ones, and no we only have one car.

I've just left aviva on one of my cars due to an insane rise.

Most places wanted a minimum of £200 over what I was paying (2015 BMW 428i Gran Coupe, average postcode, 10+ years no claims), some wanted over £800. My Swiftcover renewal was over £700 when I paid just under £400 last year. Tried all the sites, some truly shocking ‘we don’t really want your business but if you’re stupid enough we’ll take it’ quotes of over £2k. Eventually moneysupermarket came through with a quote from Stella which was only £55 more than I was currently paying. They apparently specialise in insurance for women but were the best by a couple of hundred pounds.

Check Direct Line. For years they were dreadful for quotes for me, but lately they’ve been the cheapest by far. My 840i is around £500/year.

Had a go in this last night:

A pristine example, not a swirl mark in sight and as clean around shut lines and under bonnet. It’s a manual of course!

Just in negotiation phase but holding firm as the prices like most cars are certainly dropping but the condition, comp wheels and fresh brakes does add some value in my eyes.

Also got a brand new M2 for weekend but have to say I far prefer drive of this OG M2, but shall give it some more time.

Wouldn’t quote - I’m guessing it’s because the mrs has only had her license for just over 4 years.

I knew someone would find something good about the current rubbish weather :D

Thankfully rain held of and it’s stopped here now so will spend some more time in the new M2 but from my short drives the M2 OG is far more raw which I prefer.

Is it a standard M2 or Comp? Looks like the standard to me

If so, what’s stopped you looking at the competition variant?
