BMW and M Power Owners

Yes hope I gel with it, they say it’s most akin to an E30/E36 or so the press say but the press also sing praises for this latest model M2 and I was left cold by it to the point I was not excited about driving it back and I’ve never not been excited about an M car before it just felt too plush should really be a m240i as I say it felt rubbery and when I put it in softer mode it just got softer but worse that the body control felt poor, think it’s weight was showing but in firmest setting it rode fine and would be easy to daily to do big miles but it’s not special apart from the way it looks which some may find epic and some ugly all I say it’s better in person and it certainly turned heads not sure for right reasons though with all stuck on tat.

I think press say what they need to to keep cars rolling in.

I spent some time in an M240i in France and Germany earlier this year. Felt much the same. It was quite a dull experience. Almost made my think may as well go electric.

No real sound - most of it was fake. Steering felt very video game like.

To hear the M2 is more of the same is hugely disappointing. I’m sure it’s a comparatively great car when looking at other vehicles which compete in the same space these days, but it’s not great as a petrol head.

Hi there

So want to enable Apple carplay fullscreen on the M2, its a 2017 car with Pro Nav, so I believe I need the files and can load onto a USB pen which will then update / enable the system. Led to believe I may also need a wifi antenna.

Any recommendations for where to buy the software and antenna please?

Someone here may have recommendations, if not jump on the M2 owners forum on facebook, you can message me and I can add you in via facebook if you like. Lots of useful information in there

This would do the job

But be aware - have heard coding can void your BMW warranty. Hence, in your situation I would definitely look at doing this through BMW.

I'd go to BMW to get this done trouble free and avoid any potential issues with it in the future, especially with warranty.

He bought it privately, there's no hint of warranty being on the car?

Anyone had their car serviced at Munich Legends recently?

How would you rate them.

I know a few BMW fanatics near me who take their cars there. One guy in particular is a mechanical engineer and won’t take his car (an Z4M) anywhere else for any major servicing.

Another chap I know had an E92 M3 and now F10 M5 - he uses them for everything.

Sounds good. I've known of Munich Legends for a long time but never used them personally.

And I'd rather use them than a main dealer for my major service. I asked them about a coolant flush and they said its deemed to be lifetime. £89 Inc VAT if I wanted it done which is fine if that is truly a full flush.

What do you guys think about the lifetime coolant? Yay or nay and get in done every 5yrs.

I couldn’t give any real information on it as it isn’t something I’m aware of.

Generally though, if it interacts with moving parts (i.e. is an oil) I would have it done, even if it’s considered lifetime.

Something like a coolant, I’m not sure I would worry too much.

But of course depends on the vehicle, mileage and age.

hmmmm but then again

Yeah but I'd always seen coolant as a fluid that degrades over time with heat cycles. Maybe the coolant they use now is way more durable or maybe they just don't care about your old car.

If the car has enhanced bluetooth, BMW can activate it for you, or you can yourself via the connected drive portal.

If it doesn't, you have to fit a wifi antenna and get someone like Zed coding to assist, you need a laptop (or Mac with Windows VM) and an OBDII to ethernet module to code it.

Never heard of the USB method, not saying that it doesn't work, but I would advocate using a decent coder.

Speak to the coder on whether to remove it or not prior to any dealer work.
