BMW and M Power Owners

Thanks for this. If that's the case I'll be happy buying a RWD and a set of winter tyres/wheels.
car still has DSC /it's successor even with only RWD, so will cut power unless you disable that (used chains once over 5 years in cambridgeshire),
from an mpg/additional-maintenance perspective I'm not too sold on 4wd

F series wheel can be removed in about 10 seconds with brute force alone, loads of M3/M4 ones are robbed, someone posted a video of it happening on cutters.

was going to post that you'd damage the clock spring with any fast removal - which is the only part of the wheel I've had problems with and needed to replace.
they are like, thought it was £300 for new oem, but iffy £40 from ebay E european - it still seems an archaic technique maybe they have gone wireless now.

Ignition of a safety critical part is hard wired for very good reason, the resistance of the circuit for example is a detection method for a fault, in such a rather than waiting to hit a brick wall to realise the airbag didnt deploy. I look at stuff before its made not after pretending you are Sandy Munro Jr.

Brain check - tick. :) Hitting brick wall explaining stuff to jpaul - tick :p

My steering wheel is shiny :( Are there any good options to freshen it up and stop the shine?
If not where's the best place to get a new one? Would the options specific buttons like adaptive cruise control just be reused from the old one or do you need a wheel that matches your spec?

Get Royal Steering Wheels to sort it for you.

A good clean with Dr Leather Wipes should help improve it though, give it a scrub with a leather brush too.

Definitely give leather cleaner (or wipes) a go first, you'll probably be surprised how much better it makes it without needing to spank loads of money on a new wheel or retrimming one.
+1

I've found AG Interior Shampoo is quite good at this, really gets that grime/shine off nicely without damaging anything.. once off, then I use the leather clean/feed wipes..

My JR retrimmed E46 wheel looked marred/shiny in one place after 2 years, but some AG interior shampoo and it was 100% back to matt perfect condition.

Are the hybrid 5 series any good? I've seen a few on Cazoo recently.
Which ones in particular? 545e is a 6-cyl with a battery good for 400bhp but saloon only.
530e is 4-pot, but 290bhp. Both have relatively small batteries and small fuel tanks. The boot space in the 530e Touring is also very small due to the batteries in the boot raising the floor up quite some margin.

I have the 330e G20, great car, great for saving company car tax, but the electric range is poor, even in summer I only get 26 miles and mines got an 11kwh battery.

M2 was very good at Donington yesterday, unfortuinately I spent half my time in comfort mode due to letting air out the tyres the car thought I had a flat and would not let me drive in anything but comfort, even after putting a bit more air in and getting the tyres hot the car refused. I then discovered the reset button which solved the issue and yep the car was a damn site better in Sport Plus MDM mode, car is on super sports which certainly felt a bit off once passing 60-70c area, overall car ran great, discovered from reading history its also fitted with DS2500 pads and Motul fluid in July this year, so thanks to previous owner for brand new brakes, which felt good, not amazing but no fade issues but also not amazing stoppers but OK.

But out the box impressive machine, I feel it it was on a Cup 2, AR1 type tyre with proper brakes like AP's it would be quite a machine, I managed to pass a GT3 and GT4 in it as it was, but better tyres and brakes I feel it would be keeping with the better driven 718 GT4's and other M2/M135/140's which were there which were also flying but they were on coilovers, AP's and semi slicks.

Was tempted to buy an M2 a few years ago. Wasn't sure and one thing that put me off, at least buying at that time, was seeing the poor condition of some nearly new 'just arrived' cars at my local dealer.
Just checked used prices and still very strong, thought they'd have come down a lot by now.
Enjoy. Looks great !
