BMW and M Power Owners

440i gran coupe with m performance package here with RWD
tyres are 4x michelin pilot sport 4S
neat trick i've found (well...read previously) and use is putting it into eco mode in snow - less chances of breaking traction
" M performance package "
What does that entail?

You gone MPPSK yet?

Was tempted to buy an M2 a few years ago. Wasn't sure and one thing that put me off, at least buying at that time, was seeing the poor condition of some nearly new 'just arrived' cars at my local dealer.
Just checked used prices and still very strong, thought they'd have come down a lot by now.
Enjoy. Looks great !

Yeah this one seems fine, but the guy I got it from was I think even more OCD than me, it had a full two day detail only a month back and he had put some nice bits on it and seemed to really look after it but he has had many EVO's and he admitted RWD is not for him so he has got himself an EVO 7.

I feel the M2 is far better than the E46 M3 out the box, for instance the brakes stood up to a track day just fine, trying doing that even on an E46 M3 CSL stock brakes and you quickly realise they are woefully not upto the job, as a platform I feel it could make a very good track toy with some mods, must resist. :D

Also on the journey to and from the track, 34mpg, am not sure what the M2C achieves on a cruise but very impressed with that, as that is rivalling our GR Yaris, still the 600 LT has it beat but advantage of a 7th over drive, though I think the DCT in M2 has a taller 7th gear compared to the manuals 6th so probably even better mpg in the DCT.

Just a good all rounder, it can chill and go the shops, attack a B road or do a track day, what an M car should be all about and do it all in its stride. :)

The low price of these is a reflection of how unpopular they are on the used market. The fuel tank is only 40 litres so the range is very poor, for most people a 530i is simply a better car.

But of course because of this you'll pay more for one, so it's not quite that easy!
I don't know enough about hybrids so I'll steer clear for now. Thanks for this, much appreciated.

Having owned the car, without BMW Warranty, for over two years and, touching wood, nothing has gone wrong so far, I'm now becoming concerned that something will go wrong and knowing my luck it'll be an iDrive unit or something that'll be a thousand pounds or something equally nutty. Considering putting the warranty on it!

£42pm or £452 for the year with a £250 Excess (£56 or £608 with £100 Excess) without roadside assistance as I get AA cover with my paid for bank account.

Interesting about the Roadside assistance though: BMW Roadside Assistance can either be purchased on its own or with a BMW Insured Warranty. If you choose not to include BMW Roadside Assistance with your BMW Insured Warranty, you will still be provided with UK roadside recovery to your nearest BMW Retailer.

I have mine as the F80 can throw up big bills, so I don't mind the excess being £250. It's there to cover the big money items such as turbo replacement, crankhub slip, exhaust camshaft realignment, diff seals, valvetronic motor etc.

That's what I'm thinking and the £452 is doable on a Bonus month, the £608 puts a bit of a strain on the finances.

BMW have been in touch as I’m into the 4th year of my PCP. I may consider chopping in for the LCI if the maths works…

M2 was very good at Donington yesterday, unfortuinately I spent half my time in comfort mode due to letting air out the tyres the car thought I had a flat and would not let me drive in anything but comfort, even after putting a bit more air in and getting the tyres hot the car refused. I then discovered the reset button which solved the issue and yep the car was a damn site better in Sport Plus MDM mode, car is on super sports which certainly felt a bit off once passing 60-70c area, overall car ran great, discovered from reading history its also fitted with DS2500 pads and Motul fluid in July this year, so thanks to previous owner for brand new brakes, which felt good, not amazing but no fade issues but also not amazing stoppers but OK.

But out the box impressive machine, I feel it it was on a Cup 2, AR1 type tyre with proper brakes like AP's it would be quite a machine, I managed to pass a GT3 and GT4 in it as it was, but better tyres and brakes I feel it would be keeping with the better driven 718 GT4's and other M2/M135/140's which were there which were also flying but they were on coilovers, AP's and semi slicks.

What tyres are on it at the moment? Assuming you just ran your road tyres on the track?
Looking at taking mine on a TD at some point and assumed I'd need to bring a spare set of boots but your post making me think otherwise... probably be Donington as well as only 20 min up the road from me

Unless you know the track and you can properly pedal a car, road tyres will be absolutely fine. Just monitor tyres temps and pressures, do a warm up lap and cool down lap, keep it to 15 minutes and you’ll be fine. They’ll get hot so let the car and tyres settle, adjust pressures and go out again after a break.

I thought they were pulling them off with brute force rather than undoing the nut…

That airbag is for the passenger side where there is no steering wheel to prevent consistent deployment, where would your arms go?!

Are you even on this planet jpaul?

Anyone going, or been to Simply BMW @ Beaulieu?

I am popping down with my daughter before she goes back to uni and we haven't been before (never been to Beaulieu before), anything interesting/worth seeing/doing / places of interest to eat after nearby (will look on tripadvisor also)?

Hoping the weather isn't terrible and we have a good day, she likes cars, and good to spend some time with her before she's away again!
