BMW and M Power Owners

I went from a Boxster to an M3 (E92) in 2011 and whilst the M is very good the handling of the various Boxter/Cayman's I drove during my Porsche ownership takes some beating.

Not sure myself what I will be replacing my M3 with in September. Head says 530(5), the Mrs says keep the M3, my heart says M3/4 :D

(lovely car that xs2man)

I'm not saying the Cayman S or F Type didn't handle very well, its just for me thats not the be all and end all of what I'm after. If I could afford to run one of these as a weekend car and have something else as my daily use then I would but I can't justify having that much money tied up on something that lives in the garage.

The E92 M3, Audi S5, F22 M235i, Cayman S and others are on the list, but they all do things quite differently so deciding what if any of those is the right balance of what I want is proving hard...probably because I've not narrowed down what I want it to do 100%

Anyone have experience of a E46 320i (facelift) automatic? How does the gearbox suit the engine?

SHOUT OUT!

Got some LED lights for my M3, but as its a 2002 car it needs re-coding, is this anyone here knows how do to or know of an indy local to Stoke who can do it. Main dealer says not possible, yet it clearly is.

If anyone can point me in right direction or sort this for me, would be appreciated. :)

You sure they need coding and not just an interim wiring loom or the tracks altered on the lights themselves?

If its coding there should be plenty of people around with a version of the software, I have it but I'm miles away from you!

Fairly certain PAsoft does it easily, or NCS Expert definitely does if you've got it Gibbo.

Edit: genuine ones need coding to stop them strobing.

They are genuine and as my car is 2002 its LCM is supposedly compatible and programming only will suffice. Its the 2001 and older models which also need a new LCM as well supposedly.

I have that software but no idea how to use it, I programmed my SMG to CSL firmware and have cleared error codes but that is about it.

If there is a guide somewhere for the LCM programming I will give it a crack. :)

Does anyone know how expensive and difficult it is to retrofit xenons to an E46 facelift coupe? The car has headlight washers. I've heard conflicting information on the internet and wanted to know it anyone here had any experience with it.

Cheers.

Nice motor wingman :) how much?

Thanks mate. Set me back £5k from a dealer.

Which software do you have currently? I know PAsoft is incredibly easy to do coding with as it's all tickbox based (and that's how I did mine) :) If you've got NCS it's a little more difficult but still achievable. Navcoder (which was included on a lot of the usual diagnostic discs) can do it too if you've got that?

Did all facelift coupes not have projector's fitted as standard? Or was that the saloons? If so, a HID kit with CANBUS error cancellers should work out of the box.

Nice :)
a *20d is all the car you really need for the road and that does it in comfort and style.

This is actually very true. However all of the diesel models i've ever driven have never given that bubbly feeling you get from an x25i/x30i/x35i. The x20d's are completely proficient at everything. They quieter than they were, they have decent performance, they don't have so much of a limited powerband as they used to - but they still, and for the foreseeable future, lack any kind of "pizazz" or excitement.

Lovely car though is the F10 - including the 520d. Congrats :)
