BMW and M Power Owners

Another quick question. The extended BMW warranty is cheaper under 60k iirc, does the same go for approved used? Is it still a price hike at 60k?

If you by at 59k and already have a years warranty do you have to wait until it runs out before buying the extended warranty?

Yes, you do. The price of the warranty is based on the mileage at the warranty purchase point - ie 1 year after buying your AUC.

Been looking at E39 530i Sport models to replace the 330ci in the next month or two - did all Sport models have the relevant sport seats as standard?

I've seen one on eBay that looks pretty good in Imola Red (from the pics anyway), but it's a 2001 model with Sport kit, but seems to be missing the proper seats oddly enough.

From memory very few of the 5's (any?) have the e46 style seats

edit i see the car you mean - that does look odd

I get the impression that thing has been tinkered with or been in some kind of accident.

It's got the facelift fog lights, but the pre-facelift headlights.

I'm MASSIVELY tempted to go down to Southampton to have a look at this, 530i Sport, Manual, made in the best colour BMW have ever produced - Velvet Blue ;)

5 grand for one with Champiro tyres? 5k is flawless minter money..

It's true, I wasn't planning on forking 5k for it, I was more interested in the manual box and the colour/spec. There's a Champagne II one at a garage a couple of miles away from me that looks quite tidy, with a lot less mileage for 4k so will be having a look at that one at some point.

Quick question. Is it possible to track the build status online?

No its not possible in the UK, you can only phone your dealer or wait for an update. I've seen the screen they get and some dealers will email you a screen dump every week or so which will give you the current number.

The USA can track :(

Statuses as below.

I'm currently waiting (not very patiently) for a 120d M sport which is due the end of next month, current status is 1200 to be built next week.

Is this worth looking at? http://www.pistonheads.com/classifi...-sport-4dr-39k-fsh--absolute-gem--vgc/2107880

Price is pretty ambitious regardless of its credentials.

I'm not sure I'd spend any more than £4k on an e39 nowadays though (exc M5).

Much improved :) Have you thought about peeling it off and re-doing it closer to remove the texture? Also curious if that will remove the texture, as the bumpyness is what's putting me off doing mine.

Thanks :) I did consider peeling it all off and starting again but I sprayed almost 10 coats so not sure how much Plastidip was left in the can.

To be honest I quite like the texture..it matches in quite well with the airbag cover.

The only issue I'm finding at the moment is that it's very rubbery and tends to pick up any loose things I have on my hand like dirt or skin. A quick wipe down sorts it and the old cover what the same to be honest, but the texture makes it a bit more difficult to wipe off easily.

Seems rather expensive but it does look super clean - I completely agree with you, 4-4.5k seems to be the sweet spot where you can get most of the great E39's (excl M5's of course) with the right sort of spec and history.

This is the Champagne Edition one I was referring to earlier, I've spoken to them and sounds good but I will be having a closer look at it as soon as I can get some time off work to arrange a viewing.

Hopefully I'll get some money off that price and with the extra the 330ci should bring in, I'll have a nice slush fund in case the box does go pop and fix any problems that may arrise :D

Thanks.

How long has the process taken so far?

For me it was ordered on the 19th of February, estimated end of April. The 120 engine 3 door had a longer lead time on it than any of the 5 doors or smaller diesel engines. I originally ordered a 118d but decided that I wanted the extra power.

When its built it will run through all the processes in less than a week, from there its generally 3-4 weeks till its at your dealer and ready to collect.

Hey Guys,

So i decided i would go and order a new F22 M235i at the weekend.

Can i have some opinions on the spec below:

Black Dakota Leather
Alpine White

Driver Comfort Package
Visibility Package
Sun Protection Package
Run Flats
Sport Auto Transmission
Ext mirrors folding, auto dimming
Seat heating front
High-Gloss Black interior trim finisher
Hardon Kardon Hi-Fi
Black Panel Display Full

The only real thing i missed off was the Pro Navigation, simply because i can't justify 2k for a SatNav! With Carplay here with IOS i would rather use that, but is the catch that i would need some navigation package to allow this.

Electric seats are only useful if you have more than one person driving the car which i don't.

Lumbar support is just a small added extra bit of padding in the seat. I don't drive long distances.

The adaptive suspension... Again not too sure with this.

Will be also looking to get a few M Performance parts like the black grill and performance exhaust.

Test drove one of these a couple weeks ago. Had the performance exhaust fitted too (sounds amazing). Posted details in this thread.

The one I drove didn't come with the adaptive suspension. To be honest it felt fine without it. So much so that I chose not to go for it.

Pro nav isn't just sat nav it's a much better screen etc. I would leave off stuff like folding mirrors and run flats (why would you voluntarily pick those) to free up budget for pro nav.
