BMW and M Power Owners

The car is in Stoke on Trent with quicks so it may have been moved around the country a bit. I'm not totally sure how much of the SH is missing, i'll have to call up and find out.

Where is the car out of interest? I looked at one that I'm sure was a 55 or an 06 that I went to great length to track the missing history on with BMW (as it was missing its last stamp) and failed. The seller wasn't remotely helpful

So the car (55 130i) has the following services:

Pre delivery 2006
257111 miles in 2009
38635 miles in 2010
53075 miles in 2012

Seems that the first service is way too late.
Is this car worth ~£7k ?

Is it a early 06 car and was the service done in late 09 if so it could be 3 to 4 years before it had its first service.

Its not as if a good 130i is hard to find, I would walk away unless its a lot cheaper than other cars of its age.

I'd spend up to £10k, but that would be E60 money and everyone keeps telling me the E60 is crap. If I spent £15k I'd want an F11, which isn't going to happen. I'm not interested in an E93 because the build quality on my E92 was not up to scratch.

Yep E91 sorry :)

I think you should probably go and drive an accord diesel or the likes then see how you feel. You'd be getting a much newer car, they're generally very well screwed together and can carry a fantastic amount of stuff.

Alternatively it might make you feel that despite not quite what you expected quality wise, the 3 series is actually still worth the extra

257,000 miles before it's first service? Walk away. If i'm honest, I'm astounded to how well it's done up until now ;)

Anyway, yeh, 25000 miles and 3 years without a service, on the face of it, still = walk away. The only thing i find hard to believe is that someone bought a brand new 130i and didn't get it serviced. However, i find it a lot easier to believe that someone forgot their service book at home a couple of times and it was never stamped.

My advice would be to call BMW and get them to tell you when they have recorded on their computers what mileage the car has been serviced at. Who knows, they could tell you that the car was serviced in 2007 and 2008, but the service book not stamped, and you could tactically withhold that information to get a good deal on a car that otherwise appears to have not had a service for the first 3 years of it's life ;)

I can't own another Honda, the Civic was enough.

You'd need to have a very clear plan of what you were going to do with something like that.

Are you the kind of person who can keep something for 4-5 years? If so, and assuming it'd be relatively trouble free (lets face it motorway miles are quite kind) then so long as you don't mind spending the £16k+ maintenance over your ownership period and accept it'll be worth pretty much literally nothing at the end of it something like that might not be the worst choice in the world.

If like me you struggle to keep a car for more than a year then I'd suggest that kind of example would be likely to cost you in the region of £5k relative depreciation alone over that kind of period. Traders won't want it, private sellers won't want it yet it'll still be a £12k + car in theory

I took my E92 in to have the HPFP looked at last week and also recall work for VANOS bolts carried out.

The dealer were unable to get a reading from my OBD due to my aftermarket alarm immobilising it, so couldn't even read the code, it's back in on Monday. I spoke to the fitter who mentioned he might have added an in-line switch, BMW were unable to find this, unsurprisingly looking in the footwell for a switch hidden behind trim

So I had a look myself, removed the kick panels/trim in the footwell and was instantly reminded that the fitter moved my OBD and has hidden it somewhere I'm yet to find. (Couldn't see any switch elsewhere either)

(FYI, I think the car needs to have the aftermarket alarm deactivated via the alarm fob first to mobilise the OBD, rather than the OEM fob doing both as the two are paired)

So I'm curious as to what my local garage were plugging in to in order to get a 'no entry' like sign? Is there another diagnostic port that they use within the engine bay?

I've had them check DCT software before which they told me was up to date but if they're having difficulty now I can't see how they could have checked before...

Why does it have an aftermarket alarm? Don't all cars (especially something akin to an E92) have factory-fit alarms nowadays?

I thought BMW carried out fixes for that?

The OBD was still left vulnerable and the OEM alarm on E9X's is **** poor.

I know where the OBD has been moved to now, the fitters as confused as I am as to what they've been plugging in to... tempted to leave it hidden and see what they come up with...

It's so bloody inconvenient not having an actual spare wheel!!! Had a huge gash in the tyre last night which meant I had to be recovered back home rather than just swap to the spare and carry on.

I know it saves weight which makes sense in the M5, but guys at work are telling me their cars are also with similar sealant kits. So lame!! Feels like a backwards step to me.

grrr!! Anyways, rant over, just having a moan really :D

i have a problem with what i'm assuming is the battery.

if i sit with ignition on but engine off, after about a minute i get a message of battery low.

ive been on plenty long runs so the battery should not be low on charge.

any help on what to do please?
