BMW and M Power Owners

Well it doesn't matter anyway because on the way there he rang and let me know he'd sold it! I'll keep my eyes peeled.

What have you got Jez? You had a 325 didn't you?

Cleaned car and stupidly left the key in the ignition, went to start it to move it and nothing but clicking. Jump start time...

After panicking because the transmission cog of death appeared, jump start cured it all :D Battery definitely screwed though, new one is on the agenda tomorrow.

Any good? :) Looks like a decent example as far as I can tell. Not sure about the make of tyres though.

Ultrac Sessantas are alright, iirc mrk has/had them and found them agreeable.

No mention of any history in the advert would have me asking questions, as well as why it doesn't have an armrest and instead has one in place of the cubby hole (which would be very uncomfortable to use). I'd take a look at this or this instead tbh.

I was driving through the new forest last night and kept being flashed by on coming cars because my lights looked like they were on main beam I think. Is there a way I can dip the xenon headlights because I couldn't find anything on the dash and they don't seem very dipped at all. If I stand a few meters in front of the car the lights come up to my chest.

As you can see from the crappy pic, the top of the beam is about the same level as the top of the rear lights of the pick up truck infront. Is that normal for dipped lights?

When you turn the car/lights on do you see the headlight beam go up then down when it adjusts for the auto levelling? If no, your auto levelling sensor might not be functioning properly. If yes, you can manually adjust the height of the beam on the back of the headlight.

How long have you had the car? How long has the beam pattern been so high? Since both of headlights are too high, I think the auto level sensor is a good call.

Oh and what car?

Ah damn, it was a bit steep anyway :)

Nope, the two models i have never had are a 325 or a 320, ive had a few 318's and 330's of various bodystyles. Anything in-between i am not sure i really see the point in :)

I see the lights rise up from their off position when i first turn them on. I don't notice them adjusting ever during a journey.

Ive had the car (a 2003 330ci sport) for two months. I think i'll manually adjust them when it stops raining.

Edit- bugger my girlfriend was signed in on my PC!

Are they OEM xenons? If you get someone to sit in the boot do they adjust themselves downwards? possibly just the level sensor(s) - though normally oem xenons will dip downwards in this case. The ignition on sequence will just be checking that the lights can indeed move

They're OEM xenons yeah. I'll try out the sitting in the boot test too! Will I be able to see the lights themselves move during the ignition sequence? Cheers for the help.

Very easy to adjust, use a crosshead screwdriver in the hole behind the headlamp lens (head aimed downwards) and adjust. Note that small movements make a big impact on beam angle. Park in front of a brick wall to get the alignment level per headlamp.

Be sure to start the car with you in the seat so the autolevelling can set itself initially.

Is the E83 X3 based on the E46?

Yup.

I have one and they are cheap as chips to get parts for / service / maintain etc. The engines etc are straight out of an E46.

Overall a good car, mpg is less than the equivalent E46 but I've found mine cheap enough to run as a daily.

downsides, the interior trim isn't quite to the same standard as an E46, it is a bit cheaper feeling in some places. It's an SUV rather than an actual off roader. Don't take it actually off road. I've had mine through deep snow and on some bad muddy tracks and it's been fine, but I'd not take it where you'd take a rangey :)

Just keep in mind that they tend to be considerably more expensive than the equivalent e46 - not many (any?) petrol manuals about either if that's an issue for you.

Not a car I've got a lot of love for if I'm honest, not because it was bad....more because it just wasn't that good at anything

True. If I find a nice 330d Sport Touring with xenons and heated seats I'll jump on it.
