The thing with the lights is a bit irritating - basically it's because you only get the cool stuff with a Visibility pack. Seems logical, but the problem arises with cars where Xenons are standard.

On a 3 Series or a pre LCI 5 Series, many people spec'd or would spec a vis pack because it added Xenons.

However with cars where Xenons are standard fit (5 LCI, 6) the takeup of the visibility pack was considerably lower as the 'must have' Xenon light was already fitted and I guess people saw little point to continue to pay a grand for the vis pack, which then contained LED instead of Xenon.

There is no visibility pack on the 6, you can specify the adaptive and HBA separately, unlike on most of the other series where if you add adaptive lights it also adds in the HBA as part of the same bundle. Thats where the difference comes from on the 6.

LMAO, best thing I've read on here in quite a while.

It worries me that you have a license!

Wow I'm so pleased I made you laugh, maybe if you had an understanding of what I meant then maybe, just maybe I'd care...but "clearly" having good and unimpeded visibility out of a car is not something that should worry me, particularly when carrying my kids round in the car.

eBay is your best bet. That's where I buy alloys from.
Ask to see pictures of the stamps on the inside of the wheels to make sure they're genuine.

Probably cheaper and less hassle to buy alloys without tyres on, unless you're specifically looking for used rubber :p

-edit, although looking at that link, I wouldn't think they were replicas.

thx.

I was going to try and get they with tyres on as mine are due for replacement in the next month or so, so if i can get some to get me 6 months i can replace them later.

Jinxy, what about the problems in the M235i? Are they plaguing other cars? Isn't it worth persevering a little longer?

The majority of the problems have been specific to this car, i've just had enough of it and the problems that I've experienced, I have 0 confidence in it.

I don't know why you keep comparing apples to oranges. There isn't a visibility pack for the 6 because that pack is replaced by the superior Adaptive LED option. The Adaptive LED's (the 6's visibility pack if you like) certainly come with HBA included.

The way I sit in nearly every car I have driven or have owned means I can't see very much if anything due to the pillars.... You do indeed get used to it/learn how to actually angle for a better view in the mirror when needed

Can't you move the seat forward a bit, or do you have extremely long legs and a tiny torso? :p

As for the faults, what were they exactly? For all the complaints, I can't remember you posting a complete list anywhere.

Also, didn't you say you'd "never go back to BMW again due to **** poor service" years ago before you went Jaaaaag or was that someone else?

So let me get this straight because I am comparing Xenon headlights on both cars, equipped with the adaptive system and high beam assist on both cars, where the technology in the 3 is superior to that in the 6 I'm comparing apples to oranges? Isn't that more the case of what you are doing as you are comparing the functionality of a Xenon system to that of an LED system???

If I wanted to compare the functionality of the LED lights I'd compare the functionality of the LED lights in both cars, which is identical in both, but I didn't I was comparing the Xenons which clearly is different.

On the majority of cars I've driven I have no issues, the 5 series just ends up where I don't like, its this pesky thing called a personal preference, thats how I prefer to sit. I also prefer to be able to see clearly from my seating position, I have no interest in getting used to it as its not how I feel comfortable and I really am not that bothered in not wanting to own a 5 because of it.

Ok so the list so far is

Failed suspension sensors in adaptive suspension
Blown amp and sound control module
Misreporting speed limiter and indicator (still happening after software upgrades)
Connected drive messages not being received
Clock loosing between 3-5 minutes a week when set to auto set
Drivers seat creaking (Been repaired 4 times so far)
Dealer damaged the front bumper and botched the subsequent repair

In total the dealer has had the car for over 5 weeks resolving, or attempting to resolve these issues, some of which are still present and I only got the car in June.

Add to that the problems I've had with their service department, including mistakes with bookings, damage to the car, **** poor QA and supplying untaxed loan cars, my experience has been crap.

To be honest if I could get my money back and start again I'd prefer not to get another BMW, the service has sucked. But at the moment there are few other manufactures who make cars that I like and that meet my requirements. I thought as I really liked the car I'd give it another try with BMW on the hope that using a different and reputable group I'd not experience the same level of crapness that I'd previously experienced...It's unfortunately been proven that it does seem to be a trait of BMW dealers in general and not localised to the ones I've used before.

Anyone confirm to me whether my e90 m sport can take 17" 8j's? The brakes look a bit tight on the 18" mv3s that are on. I've read people have managed 17" but wondered what the deal is.

£603 later my 330ci is back on the road. New Clutch, master and slave cylinder, and a tow to get there. Ouch :/

How do you find it with the new components?

I ask as my e46 325i manual is hateful to drive from a clutch / gear change perspective, the clutch delay valve thingy literally ruins the experience of driving it and makes me feel and look like some wet behind the ears noob who can't drive properly! :o

I'm starting to hate this aspect of the car with a passion....

My next steed is going to be an automatic again, in sure, but, in the meanwhile I'm wondering about getting my clutch looked at as its so hateful to operate!

Can't say I'm keen on dropping £600 on the thing mind you, I may well just bail out.....

Mine is in Shorade in Cannock being made new again as I recover from having my appendix out. It's all about the timing, but it goes straight from the body shop in for a service. Expensive month.

Anyone with an f30 noticed the bonnet catching the paint on the wing panels just below the windscreen close to the mirrors?
