BMW and M Power Owners

It's amazing how expensive they are, when I first decided to buy an F10 I had a 550i on the shortlist because I figured nobody would want them and everyone would want a diesel.

How wrong I was - every single example was at least £5k more than the nearest equivalent non 550i.

The new list price of a 550i is significantly more than a 535i. Also, Used F10 M5's are still around £35k+ which will keep used 550's up there.

Just checked the expansion tank before I left work. And its totally empty. Rang bmw and they sounded surprised, booked in again tomorrow.

Sometimes I hate cars ...

What's the general consensus on oil change intervals and CBS? Oil in my N57 was last changed Feb, 12k miles ago. Idrive suggests I have another 9k to go. Scouted round the forums and everyone seems to suggest changing around 10-12k. Debating booking it in my local dealer in the next few weeks for oil and filter service.

Is this a good idea or still a bit early? Fox or any of the other guys running the same engine, how often are you changing oil and filter?

I'm just sticking to the recommended intervals especially as I have a service pack on the car. It's looking like a 15k interval, presumably you do many more longer trips hence the longer interval.

BMW's variable intervals successfully took my 530i past 200,000 miles.

Thanks Fox :)

Because it is from last year's registration :p

You'd be mad to pay that kind of money for that. The black wing mirrors also look like someone broke the originals and the owner just found some unpainted and fitted them. Looks out of place without other black trim bits on the body.

Hilarious isn't it. Anyone paying £30k for a regular E92 is insane. It even seems like too much for an E92 M3 these days. That one isn't even THAT new, its almost 2 years old. I paid £10k less for a 2.5 year old 335i back when it was a current gen model!

I will soon be joining the BMW gang. 120d Msport coupe on the way. Dealer wanted 15k and didn't realise it had sat nav. After an hour and a half almost, I walked out after getting it for 14k as well as tax, four alloy refurbs, bumper scuff being fixed and half a tank of fuel. All for 14 :)

Has all the toys except xenons really. End of the month before Xmas seems good time to buy. I think I got a good deal, but you guys (fox) can tell me off if need be.

Not sure what you'd class as "all the toys".
Business Nav is rubbish, it doesn't have full leather, heated seats or cruise control either by the looks of it.

Any reason for buying one of the last-of-the-line E8x 1-series? Surely the current 1 Series can't be much more expensive?

I'd personally buy an older one with more spec.

I think my local dealer is reknowned for stupidly overpricing used cars and then offering discounts to a more 'optimistic' price so customers think they're getting a good deal.

It isn't advertised but has cruise control, Bluetooth, nav, parking sensors, no leather but I don't mind. Changing from a Polo so I'm happy. There is always going to be a better car or deal somewhere in the country but based on auto trader comparisons I thought it was not a bad deal.

The poverty nav and lack of leather are the first clues as to why doesn't have "all the toys". As is the lack of xenons.

To be fair, it looks like a poverty spec M-Sport. As mjt says, I'd probably have preferred am older, better specced motor, if you couldn't get one the same age, for the same price, with a better spec.

Also, this may be personal opinion more than anything else, but hooped if I'd be buying anything from Arnold Clark.

What's the general concencus on E60s?

I'm looking at wanting a V8 saloon as a second car for wafting about in and the 550 and 545 are appealing for some reason. :/
