BMW and M Power Owners

Here is the quote I got from BMW for My M3 on just over 110k. I about spat my tea out when I first seen this but in hindsight with a 2k bill for a new SMG unit now it doesn't seem so bad.

Annual Payment
Driveline Warranty
Excess: £250
£2888.00 per year

Monthly Pay As You Go
Driveline Warranty
Excess: £250
£265.00 each month

Yeah, assuming the SMG AND something else expensive fails every year.

Might be a little late for you, but the best way to find out is call up the BMW warranty place, and ask for a quote. I believe the cost basically doubles after 60k miles, so this one at 68k is just a little bit past what might seem reasonable.

Prices are based on the model only, so there is basically zero cost difference between a 318i and a 335i for example. Of course, as you are looking at a Z4 over 60k, this may be up there in the not worth it category. However, it may make a good bargaining chip for negotiating money off with the dealer. You can always ask them to reduce the price further for supplying no warranty, and take out the BMW warranty when you get it. BMW may want to inspect the car first though if it doesn't have full BMW service history.

M power models are the exception to the one price all models policy, they are priced separately.

I did think that to be honest. But having absolutely no inclination to ever get a M car, I have had no need to go find that out for myself, lol. And I also assumed the Z4 would be a relatively expensive one anyway, as they would surely be powerful engines the majority of the time anyway?

Thanks for this.

There are 2 used approved ones in London that have caught my eye, then there is this one locally...

Mileage is high but I don't do all that many miles, and these engines are super reliable to 150k+? (please correct me if im wrong?)

Can this one be taken to BMW and given a warranty or do BMW not offer that for cars purchased outside the BMW network?

Z4s, in general, are fairly reliable and not over complicated.

For Z4M the biggest thing to worry about is VANOS problems.

If you're concerned put a post on the Z4 forums, the members there are always very friendly and helpful :).

Also did exactly the same. Had LED sidelights which matched the Xenons perfectly but always felt they looked a bit chav. Decided to move back to normal bulbs after seeing the below photo of my car from before I put LEDs in.

Robbie, when are we getting a vid of the new exhaust? :)

I need this :( my Astra is quick enough but just lacks something that makes me love it.

Maybe once I don't necessarily need my car so much(10k since June) I'll try and find a nice one. My mate just got a Y plate 325 saloon in gold, chrome trim to boot for £1300...not my first choice.

Think I would rather put £250 a month in to a savings account. If you need to do repairs then great, but otherwise you will still have a chunk of money left. What do you get after a BMW warranty that you don't claim on? A thank you card? ( I have no idea :P)

Same kind of quote, welp!

When it stops being miserable outside :D The sound is much better around town and when idle, it burbles softly when idling and when accelerating around town. At motorway or dual carriageway speeds it's quieter than the stock single pipe exhaust. I need to golf tee out the butterfly flap thing too as it's permanently open so no point being there.

Sounds like it was a good change then :)

^Love that picture, looks awesome. :)

Agreed, had that as my wallpaper for a while.

:D

Ahh fantastically Jewish colour scheme there. Saying that I do quite like phoenix yellow on the M3.....

hurfdurf, I think you can do a lot better than that on a Z4M if you peruse the Z4-Forum, this one sold recently and was advertised at under £14k, plus has a pretty desirable spec colour-wise: Z4 Forum

This one perhaps, 1 owner, FBMWSH, 47k miles, good colour combo and the whole options list. Less than £14k. Pistonheads

Tempting, also very very tempted by the 2 in London from BMW themselves. If the local guys can do me a good deal though.... its a very nice example, my only problem is that 2 of the services were not at BMW, the inspection 2 and the latest one done recently... That and it's done almost 70k. I'm told mileage isn't an issue on these cars but I have to think resale value on a car like this.

Tempting me as well, must resist new shiny...

Cant get a quote on bmw warranty website for it tho :(, cheaper insurance then my current 3.0i tho hmm....

My coupé wouldn't quote on the BMW warranty site either, but they were able to do it OK on the phone. I believe it's something to do with whether the registration ever changes as it goes off their registration vs VIN database.

I can also be if the car is already covered by a BMW warranty or one that has recently expired.

I think im going to be going for one from BMW themselves, thanks for talking me into some sense, fell in love with the one I drove locally a bit too hard.

Mines now going in to bmw again tomorrow to have the coolant system looked at as its just decided to start going though it at a slow rate but enough to get me a bit worried.

Had to top it up a tiny bit when I first got it but its been fine since. No obvious signs of where its going (checked all the normally places people suggest on the forums, at least what I can looking under the hood) , no light on the dash or over heating yet but thought I would bite the bullet now.

Guess ill see what it is, anything bad and expensive I may end up in a Z4m sooner then I planned or fix and keep this car for another summer and blast around Europe in it.

Quick question for those in the know - tyre pressures.

2007 e92 335i - non RFT's at 235/35/19 & 265/30/19.

What are the recommended tyre pressures as i see there are several opinions and i cant get a definitive answer! ??
