BMW and M Power Owners

Good spot by me then :D I've been there a few times, took a Clio V6 out on a drive years ago. I think they've gone downhill a bit in recent times as they don't have the sort of metal they used to a few years ago.
I need to update my location, not in Wokingham anymore unfortunately; living in Reading town centre now.

They have a Clio V6 there at the moment ;) I guess with the current climate it's better from their side of things to have lower value cars.

I'm sorry you live in Reading! I've done that too. I work in the town centre though. Forbury Square.

IMO we should split the threads up between the genuinely sporty M cars and the non M cars such as the "sport" and SE spec cars. They are worlds apart. Do M car owners really want 118d owners polluting up their genuinely sporty based threads? I think not!

Hurfdurf for mod.

Most enjoyable car I have owned - 330cdi:

and my second BMW - 318i (the one at the back getting fixed :p) got it for £150 made it all the way from edinburgh to rome. Would have like to keep it but was more expensive and time consuming to bring it home than it was to fly. Done us amazingly well, fully loaded with 4 ppl & luggage it never missed a beat (apart from over heating, and blowing a radiator pipe after a long afternoon racing a 2up prelude through rhone valley!)

Its not too bad, got a nice place by the Kennet & Avon; opposite the Bell and Dragon pub. Far enough away from the town centre crowd, but close enough that its a 10 min walk. The only problem is that my insurance has literally doubled :(

Did you scrap the car in Italy?!

Not been a BMW fan for very long....But...

First, a 1995 BMW 320 saloon... Stop laughing at the back. At the time I was doing some work for 4/5 months in Wembley, and it was a pain to get to. So, I bought a cheap 1k car from a friend's Dad. The idea being I could just dump it where I liked and I wouldn't care about it.

Turned out to be a simply awesome car. I absolutely loved it. Bought it at 105k miles, sold it on to another friend at 125k, and it's still going strong now at 160k. I know it sounds comical - I've had some awesome cars over the years - but I really, really liked this.

Next up bought a 2006 320 (the 6 cylinder one) drop top e46. Again, great car. By this time I was kinda hooked on the BMW way*. Not a particularly special car but I was doing a bucket load of miles at the time, and it was sunny.

I then finished the couple of projects I was doing that was causing my mileage to be so high (some 35k in 10 months in the above e46) so thought I'd go for something a bit more special - an E92 M3 manual. Beautiful car.

Stolen in January 2012, never to be heard of again.

Next up, another M3. Only in blue (not purple).

I love the V8 in this car, such a joy to drive. I've no idea what I'm going to replace it with. I struggled to find anything I liked as much after the first M3 went.

Did you scrap the car in Italy?!

Well not scrapped, just left it at the airport with keys in the ignition and FREE CAR written all over it. Left some contact details if people wanted to get the v5. Got an email a few months after we left it from some UK easy jet pilots that wanted to take the car to use while they were over. Informed them they keys were in the ignition and just take it and would send the v5 over. Unfortunately there was a huge fine to get it out the car park, so they just left it in the end. Never heard any more about it.

Shame was a great car especially for £150!!

A hell of a lot of BMW owners on this forum! Some very nice engines in this thread and some great kept examples of cars. I have no pictures of my M5 to show, will give her a clean this weekend and get snapping!

Here's a pic of my first BMW though:

325Ci M-Sport, loved this car to bits! I still get to drive her though as I gave it to my sister when I bought my M5 instead of selling it on :)

My 05 plate 120d used to get mid to low 40's. A colleague used to get about 10 more from his Golf TDi during the same period.

Best i had 54mpg out of my old mapped 120d on a long run to Devon from Humberside

The 118d had the most economical engine.

Had a 318is E36, E46 330d and now the woeful E60 530d :D

Next inline is a F10 something or other. It could go either way from a 528i, 530d, 535i or 550i (very little between some of them cost wise).

Keep an eye out for Raymonds Wedding pictures though, as, bar the Mustang, all other cars will be BMW including a brand new F10 M5 spec'd entirely on the Individual line :)

My first, a 1990 BMW 325i SE M-Technics. Lovely piece of machinery.

Picture-088.jpg

Then a 1994 525i SE, with a manual gearbox. This had done 140,000 miles but - and I'm not joking - drove flawlessly. I didn't particularly want to sell it but I wanted to try something else. Put several thousand miles on it without any issue at all. Never got any decent pictures of it, though...

I followed that with a rare 1994 540i with a six-speed manual transmission, AC Schnitzer suspension and a few other tweaks. Very quick car.

IMG_3707.jpg

Went back to E30s briefly with a 1989 325i SE automatic. Good cruiser and went well but not particularly exciting. Sold it for twice what it owed me though, so couldn't complain.

IMG_7040.jpg

Last was my 1991 M5. Phenomenal car, loved it. Wasn't outrageous enough though so sold it. If you've ever wanted to own one, I suggest you do it now before prices skyrocket.

Went and looked at another M5 last week, a later 3.8, but wasn't keen. Obviously been there, done that. When I have a five car garage and more disposable income...

My old one, sadly gone now as it rusted to pieces around me. :( 320i SE

Oh, also, it sitting rather high as I'd just jacked it up for some anti-roll bars, Eibach 35mm springs and Bilsteain B4's went all around shortly afterwards, was such a nice car to drive. :(:(

Gah, I want another one now!
