BMW and M Power Owners

My car is weird. The sensor seems to have sorted it self out, can't trigger the lights now. Ordered a new one anyway as I suspect it will trigger at some point.

Heater blower seems to be working again.

Guys, how much should I be paying for a 4 wheel alignment on my 330d. The camber and toe are out and the steering wheel is slightly off centre. Got quoted £110 by some tyre fitting centre using a Hunter machine. I dont trust their technicians as they barely knew how to set the machine up so can't bear parting with that sort of cash to people who have no idea what they're doing.

My G/F paid about £50 to have her 24k mile 2012 Focus done, it was a hunter setup and the results were surprising, it was all over the place after analysis and drives noticeably better for the subsequent realignment - I'm going to get my 530i done soon having felt the improvement.

Tbh, I thought £50 was steep(!) but a bargain after feeling the results, I understand places charging more!

Well just picked my car up. They couldn't find anything up other then a slightly dodge battery connector which they have cleaned. Just have to keep an eye on it.

But I did get them to do a health check for me for no real reason and have been told by font discs are .4 away from the recommended minimum of 26 and I have 3mm of pad left along with my brake fluid needing changing, which the garage does think the place I got it from should have changed so yay for cars :/

Really warmed to my E39 now I've sorted most the niggles out I've refreshed the entire cooling system and been working on the car quite a bit use it daily for a 30 mile commute to work and it's just lovely for that!

Stupid question but I know how picky warranties can be. If I got the brakes and pads done at an indie would it effect the AUC warranty on the car at all ? Cant find anything on BMWs site at all.

Using BMW parts? Should be fine

Using non BMW bits, probably give them an excuse not to pay out on anything relating to the caliper or bearings etc - but check the small print

Yeh will use BMW parts any way, I might ring around see if I can get it cheaper then the 755 quid for front discs and pads and 255 for rear pads.

If I could find the small print I would check it but at the moment I cant find any warranty docs at all.

Z4M so maybe not quiet so bonkers.

And if anyone has any BMW indies in the south east they would recommend/avoid that would be nice.

Got a new Mini loaner. Really like it.

My sister has recently bought a new one. I haven't actually been in it yet but it seems nice enough and the interior seems to be better quality than the old ones from what I remember.

It's big for a 'mini' though.

Doesn't the z4m get value servicing? Still sounds a lot, I'd of thought £500ish for the fronts

Edit - in saying that the discs alone are probably £300+, so plus pads and a little bit of labour I guess it's more understandsble

Don't think that applies to M stuff but I am not really sure. At the moment the prices I am going off are the ones listed on the Health check tick form I have. Might ring a few main dealers in the area as well and see what prices they can do.

Any bmw over 5 years old receives 10% off parts and labour.

With out labour? So by the time you add labour on you are not going to be much of the price BMW have said I would imagine. From a quick google it seems its the discs people have got fitted for around £500 at some main dealers.

With labour, you can pull up a few of the standard value servicing items on the BMW site. If this matches what you've been quoted the price will be fine
