BMW and M Power Owners

Five owners on a 12 year old m3. That's a lot...

No it isn't. Not on a car like that. Cars like that are toys, playthings. Certainly in their early lives. I would keep a car like that for 12-18 months, then move onto the next one.

That car has had average ownership length of 2.4 years. That's pretty decent going for a car like this. If it had 12 owners, I might be a little more worried. But 5? That could almost be classed as a low number of owners, for that car, at that age.

My 330 does about 22 combined but I have a heavy foot. Generally reliable, so long as the cool it system is solid, the engines themselves will do heavy miles.

Yes, because as you've said, you're that type of person so you won't see it as unreasonable will you? Lol

As has been said, most folks buy cars like this, then move on up the ladder (or down in some cases!) as they fancy changing rather than staying with the same car for more than 2 ish years.

I'm pretty confident I will be the last owner of my car. When I bought the 318Ci I wanted a comfortable cruiser that handles really well on Hampshire A and B roads for the work commute, and for that I simply could not not fault it.

5 years later that all changed and I wanted a car to enjoy driving for sheer leisure only, and to share that experience with friends and family whenever the opportunity arises - And for that I cannot fault the E46 M3 in roof down format :)

I said I will be the last owner of this car, I didn't say I would not own other cars as well.

My cars booked in for a remap. Want to remove the flat spot and increase more torque lower in the rev range. Not fussed about peak bhp figures but more about drive ability.

330i don't have drivability problems?

Would like a little more torque under 3krpm clarkey. I spend most of my time under that unless I overtake. I feel it's a little gutless underneath those revs. It's not a vanos issue which I thought it was. Just how they are from others I spoke to regarding them.

Totally pointless waste of time.

The drive-ability of the 330i is massively better than that Mondeo TDCi you had before, so I don't really understand what the issue is unless the car has some sort of fault.

What it doesn't give you is that fake 'WHOA IM GOING FAST OH WAIT NO IM NOT' turbo shove you get from a diesel. Instead you get smooth, linear power delivery.

It's a wonderful engine. Stop screwing with it. :p

No faults. It's ok, if I don't see a big difference I can get a refund it's one of those superchips remaps. Just the torque in these peaks after 3krpm I would like it lower down. Those who have remapped them have said it improves the drive ability and it's more smooth and little more torque lower down.

I'll see how it fairs with it. If not I can get a refund so no big deal.

Speaking of shove it does definitely give you a shove after 4krpm until the redline as it is. So no complaints there but I rarely visit the higher range of the revs.

You need to learn to drive a large normally aspirated petrol engined car then - the entire rev range is there to be used if you want performance from the car. Thats the point.

It doesn't drive like a diesel. Thats why its so nice.

I've just become lazy. Most of my driving is town driving so I don't really get the use all of the Rev range. :p
