BMW and M Power Owners

17-18 seems to be the going rate.

Tuning options are plentiful on the x35i engine too, 400bhp is easy and 500+bhp not that expensive either, turning them into properly properly quick cars!

I'd want a DCT with CIC though, which start around 24k :(

Spec?

Mileage? Leather, iDrive, heated seats, cruise, etc etc?

These are still too expensive for my budget I think :(, a 330i/335i of a similar age can be had cheaper and easier to find too.

btw, why blank out front number plate but leaving the rear one in? :p

He hasn't. :p

Sorry had editing trouble, my 1st day on a macbook and im practically lost coming from a lifetime on pc :/

Sorted now, admittedly i'm not sure why i even bothered blanking out the plates but i've seen it all too often on forums so i thought id just go with the flow.....

Edit: On my screen the plates are still showing??? wtf? I give up :/

Would someone be so kind as to tell me about the E46 320d please?

What are they like to live with? It'll be mainly driven on the motorway (60 mile round trip).

I'm guessing the usual E46 diesel issues are par for the course so, injectors, turbos, clutches and cooling system along with rusty wings are to be checked.

Find it hard to see the point in them these days as a used buy. If you are after economy motoring then a 7-12 year old BMW isnt the way to do it. If you are not after economy motoring and want a nice BMW then an old 320d isnt the way to do that, either.

What would you suggest instead then? For a 60 mile motorway commute.

~£5k budget, 45mpg+? My problem is that I'm not sure what my requirements are - I want a car that is good at everything :\ BMW 3 series seem to tick the box, bar running costs so I'm umming and arrring the petrol/diesel debate. Petrol isn't out of the question.

If I could find a reasonable 330i for ~£3k I could save the rest for repairs.

Some sort of 1.9 TDI powered VAG thing. It's a crap engine IMHO, it's noisy and unrefined, but it seems pretty reliable and economical which is what you want.

Had a good motoring day today...

Car looks fantastic, sounds even better, feels so smooth and powerful. I was thinking earlier that the car is perfect.

It was abput 10mins after that that i heard an annoyingly familiar "BLING" noise...

Let's just say, my day has gone downhill from there and i think my HPFP may be off to the next life. :(

Just 24hrs ago it was feeling really great and i was so happy with it. I hope it comes back feeling just as good. I'm just thanking God that I (fingers crossed!) don't have to pay for a penny of it, because it's going to be expensive.

Haven't got the emergency service package so it's been a small amount of hassle (no rental car and no drop off once it's fixed), but hassle i'm willing to absorb to save £70 a year.

BMW/Mondial assist guy scanned it, P3090 came up with corresponds to HPFP. Just been towed to the dealer :(

:( It's stories like these that makes me glad that I decided to take out the BMW warranty for next year on my 335i. My current approved used warranty runs out in a couple of days time and I was swaying a little bit over buying the warranty as i'd never used the existing one for anything.

Huh - still? I thought you only did that when you first got it? Don't you have intergalactic mileage - didn't think you could still be covered? You been running warranty for your whole ownership then?

He can't be. I bet he's just referring to a part. Technically my car is covered under warranty aswell, for its DISA valve.

I took it out on a monthly basis to cover my Euro road trip as the emergency service is Europe wide.

Oh I seeeeeeeee. Guess that actually makes more sense than a 'normal' euro breakdown service. Good thinking.
