'Less wind noise, less tyre roar - this is a proper M car'

He's no Chris Harris, is he?

That remark is his comparison to the E36 M3. But yeah, he's not the most articulate :p And that "pulling away from the boss" bit, DSC strangled that peel :o

Everytime I see the E46 M3 I just want one more and more.

Fell in love with the car as an 11 year old when I was glued to my seat in the passenger side blasting through a mountain road at 130 mph.

Never had an experience quite like that ever since :D

I waited nearly 5 years to get mine, you know those times when you question whether something will live up to expectations at the last moment? It did

Any known issues with the 530d? Looking at 08/58 models. Or is it better to get the petrol equvilant? Mileage will be going up to 15k a year so looking to change next year from the 330.

Oil warning message on the f30. Think I'll top it up and monitor it. Only comes on after about ten miles into a journey.

Cheers. Will pick them both up on the 29th or so.

Picked up a litre of edge 5w30 to top up as I'm doing a bit of driving shortly. Begrudge £15 for it as 4 litres is not that much more online.

Fixed the bulb out warning by messing around with the dodgy middle brake light holder.

Bought 501 for the sidelight...but it's a bayonet type. Seems the holder/reflector on the dim side is scored so think I'll pick up another and the correct bayonet bulb.

25mpg sat at 75 indicated to Edinburgh and back last night, that was up from 20ish for the first 50 miles.

Well I have picked up my new car. Its a 13 plate 520d Touring. Very happy with the car and only one niggle so far which is the tailgate window auto open is very slow to raise the glass. I'll have to get it checked in to BMW for a look.

Otherwise it is a lovely car, the paint is in great condition and surprisingly devoid of swirl marks and the wheels are also immaculate. I came back from Gloucester in it last night and I have to say that the HUD is fantastic. I was a little skeptical about it, however in use the way it presents the sat nav is really helpful and it does help in keeping an eye on your speed. I am also impressed with the adaptive headlights, they work very well and never failed to dip in good time for other road users.

All in all I am happy, I could have bought a 530d but I think this will do me for a couple of years!
Sounds great, enjoy it :D

I think the HUD is awesome. I find the speed limit info particularly useful!
I also find BMW's navigation instructions extremely clear. Audi can't even make good ones on their satnav screens, whereas BMW can make excellent ones on an HUD!

Also - needs pics!
