Inspection done, pretty extensive and talked/walked me through the lot so I could see and understand anything spotted:
Nothing to worry about really.
I've asked them to quote the rubber jacking point cover on underside, breather pipe, caliper slider caps, exhaust clamp so I will get those sorted for how little it will cost. The little bits matter
Front tyres is interesting as loads of tread but flatted on the edges a bit although the car doesn't waiver about or track badly. I checked the pressures myself after I got the car and they were too high so back in line with spec now.
Nothing is urgent though and the propshaft coupling is minor (couple of tiny sort of fractures in a few places) so he said not to worry but I said note literally everything you spot and that list is it.
Was impressed with how thorough they were. Engine seems fine, no obvious timing chain noises. So I can relax now. He did mention to me it seems BMW were flat out saying NO to timing chain replacement under warranty but thinks it may even be worth trying to see if they'd do it FOC as people are having luck lately getting this to happen? So maybe worth a shot. Can't hurt to ask.
