BMW and M Power Owners

I'm happy to wait for the perfect one, colour isn't that important to me but the spec is and I want a DCT with heated seats and if possible, cargo through (can this be retro fitted?).

It's too soon to change my car yet, but I've decided not to remap it and put that money towards the Z4 instead.

Nice situation to be in. I'm like that with the 6 atm. Although LCI 5's and Z4's are still very appealing.

I am not in any need to change car and in lots of ways I shouldn't really as I only got this at the end of February but that change was needed at that moment in time. The C30 seems mechanically sound with fresh tyres, MOT and service so I can take my time to find the right Z4, even perhaps be picky about colours too.

Do it. Wait for your unicorn spec.

Fox did and he's ended up with a fantastic car.

I'm going to look at a six tomorrow, standard m sport aluminium trim is the only downside 'sigh'

Apart from Pro Nav and sports auto, what does it have?

-edit: HK, full black panel display and folding rear seats. I'd hardly call that unicorn spec :/

Really? Find me something that matches.
I've got better things to do with my time. I just find it hard to believe that Pro Nav and sports auto make a car rare as hen's teeth.

I know BMWs in the UK have **** spec, but that's taking the ****.

On the rare occasions I've looked, I've come across cars with radar cruise, HUD and comfort seats. So surely those would be the rarer spec cars?

Your obsession with spec continues to confuse me.

I had a list of essentials and a list of likes. The spec of mine ticked every essential and some of the likes. Ultra mega spec cars are very uncommon in the UK and more and more options became standard as F10 production continued.

Even something as simple as Sport Auto can be missing. If you start insisting on even rarer stuff too it gets even harder, especially if you are colour fussy which I was.

BTW I have only ever seen one car with adaptive cruise fitted. It's actually still for sale as ironically it's missing other bits.

I'm happy with the sport seats so the comfort seats were not on my list. Tbh the only thing it hasn't got which I wanted was surround view.

So...you're trying to make an argument without any evidence to back it up?
What? I've seen cars for sale in the past on the BMW web site with more options ticked than just sports auto and pro nav. Are you seriously suggesting the opposite?

I'm not criticising your car choice at all. I was replying to Dis86 when he said that your spec was 'unicorn spec'.
Clearly UK spec cars have cruddy spec and you've done very well to find the one you want. I just don't feel it's unicorn spec!

This has nothing to do with my 'obsession with spec' as you call it. 2 options does not a rare car make.

Oh right. Fair enough, thought you meant something else! I agree it isn't unicorn spec however it is an annoyingly uncommon spec and it's irritating how long it takes to find one that isn't basically crap or alpine white or carbon black :D What is even more bizarre is just how many 535d's there are with Business Nav. Very weird. I reckon in my time searching I came across more 535d with Business Nav than Professional Nav

Thankfully at least since the facelift the cars without Xenons are no longer an issue but its remarkable the amount of cars that are missing obvious options, its still frustrating how badly sold Adaptive lights and High Beam Assist are on facelift cars - absolutely incredible systems that most salesmen know nothing about so almost no cars have them after the facelift (Very commonly found before that as it was part of the Visibility Package, but of course the pre LCI High Beam Assist was far more basic).

Incidentally Black Panel isn't an option on mine - it's standard on cars built after March 2014.

The list of options on my previous was one was extensive yet much of it became standard later on so now isn't an 'option'.

I would have thought almost every LCI 535d would have Pro Nav. Part of the reason I justified the 530d over the 520d I went into spec up, was because they were throwing in Pro Nav on every 6 cylinder diesel. Which meant around £1800 of the upgrade in engine was covered by the free pro nav (for me, I did go in looking for efficiency this time round, but ended up with the better car by far).

Yes, them ******* salesmen not having a clue. My motor would have been on sale just now with adaptive if my salesman had a clue what it was. Unfortunately, there was no real documentation online about the changes at the time of ordering.

And yeah, black panel was an option when I specced mine up, but I wen MFD because it's MILES better. I'm really surprised there aren't more MFD motors out there, it really does make all the difference to the feel of the car. But to be honest, my salesman didn't know what that was either. Luckily I did.

Me too but it's utterly bizarre how many of them there are. One dealer in East Anglia has about 5 of them right now - all with no pro nav

Exactly, and I can hardly blame you for not paying 500 quid for it if you thought it worked just like the pre-facelift did. It was cool but a bit gimmicky. Whereas the LCI high beam assist is game changing - yet nobody was ever told.

Full Black Panel was a very rare option which was generally only found on cars with the HUD (HUD after March 2011 = free black panel) and never really optioned singly until it became standard from March 2014. It's actually really nice - the entire lower half of the dials is one big LCD and it allows you to display pretty much everything you'd ever want to see all at once. I now rarely flick through my OBC options as there is no need.

MFD is another step up again and looks super cool - but again, very infrequently selected sadly.

If you want a really good specification F10 with all of these cool bits fitted then you need to either:

a) Get very lucky
b) Order it yourself new

Adaptive Cruise with Stop and Go is brilliant and even now comes with Traffic Jam Assist where the car will STEER for you in traffic. Absolutely incredible system. Does anyone ever bother to option it? Nope :(

As for the LED headlights which became available at the facelift - how many have you ever seen on the road with them fitted? :(
