BMW and M Power Owners

Nothing worse than rubbing your seats with the same vacuum brush you use on your mats, the very same mats people place their shoes, the very same shoes that find themselves walking around all manner of places, such as toilets, manky pavements, gritty ground and so on.

I bet you flush the toilet with the lid up as well :p

Do you not shake the crap off your mats before vacuuming the remaining dust etc off them?

You'll do more "damage" (read: get them dirtier) to your seats by just getting in and out of them and rubbing your trousers on them over the course of a month or so, than you will by gently using the soft brush attachment on a vacuum that may once have touched a piece of grit on the mat to get rid of dust :p.

The shininess of leather is caused by grease and such being worn in, which is why a decent leather cleaner will bring back the 'new' matte finish.

It's not just about grit though is it. It's the notion of using the same brush you've used on carpets that have had shoes rubbing against them for months/years that have been exposed to many unhygienic surfaces.

Honestly :p

I have never had to use a vacuum brush on my seats in all the years I've owned a car. Look at the condition of my seats on every car.

I mean there's being anal and then there's being anal :p

I only use it to the extent that a bit of dust usually pools at the back of the seat base and I give it a quick whip over with the vacuum when I'm doing the carpets, or just the soft duster I use to do the dashboard.

The amount of grit in the floor mats is massive, even when appearing to be clean. Rubbing this grit over leather seats isn't a great idea if you want them to not go shiny.

I doubt it makes any difference if you go lightly or the brush doesn't retain grit. I mostly use a damp cloth to clean my seats and only use a Hoover nozzle if there is lots of grit in the crack.

My 15 year old 5 Series with completely Matt finish rear seats would suggest it's not the problem you think it is.

Perhaps a vacuum cleaner that sucks stuff up might help? :p

My impreza replacement, have to say its no boxer engine but pretty smooth and sounds grand over 2500rpm :D
530D Msport.
Bodywork is pretty much flawless given the previous owner was a dent man and his mate is a high end detailer.

Yup that isn't Rybo's. I was in touch with him about his by chance and then I recognised his number plate from here. Lovely car and example but its missing a few things I'm looking for. :(
