BMW and M Power Owners

Hey chaps, I'm back in this thread after my post in May regarding my interest in an e93.

My previous post:

Hey BMW owners,

I'm planning to upgrade to an e93 over the next couple months coming from a clio 182.

I have a budget of £8,000-£9,000 and was wondering if I could get a tidy one at this price range. I've seen plenty on a 07-09 plate with about 60-80k on the clock.

Any comments of what to look out for; engine, reliability etc would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance :)

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'm looking for a 325 which I believe is a 3.0l.

Following on from this, I'm seriously considering on getting a 335i as my insurance and financial situation is far better than my post from May. I have a budget of £9,000-10,000 and seen a few 2007-2009 335 e93's on PH and Auto Trader with 70-90k on the clock with full service history.

What concerns me at the moment are the horror stories about wastegates failing/rattling on the turbos and how you shouldn't buy one without warranty (£1000+ a year based on BMW quick quote); and then on the other hearing owners having no issues whatsoever and the car runs like a dream.

I would like the motoring experts of OCUK to enlighten me on whether these stories are as bad as they are made out to be? Additionally, how would you rate the reliability of the N54 engine compared to the other types engine found in the e9x range?

Thanks :)

Warranty is half the price (roughly) if under 60k. So depending on how long you keep it, and are willing to keep a warranty, upping the budget now to get the lower mileage one could end up costing the same, or less, overall.

Just joined the fold after picking up my 135i a couple of days ago.

Loving it so far, but just trying to get the audio working the way I want. Mainly around how I can to get my music, which is all stored on Google Play music, to be smoothly integrated with album art etc.

When I connect my android phone via Bluetooth, All it will do is play, skip back/forward and with no album art.

Reading up it seems I only really have 2 options

1: USB stick full of music, plugged into the glove box socket
2: iPod touch, plugged into the glove box socket

Just wondering if anyone here has done what im after, and how they did it.

It should not look rough at 61K at all. These days people just don't look after their cars to a decent standard.

Wouldn't surprise me. I've seen people who vacuum their leather seats with the same hose attachment brush that they just used to vacuum the floor mats.

This is exactly what I do? What state do your mats get into that this is an issue?!

The amount of grit in the floor mats is massive, even when appearing to be clean. Rubbing this grit over leather seats isn't a great idea if you want them to not go shiny.

I doubt it makes any difference if you go lightly or the brush doesn't retain grit. I mostly use a damp cloth to clean my seats and only use a Hoover nozzle if there is lots of grit in the crack.
