Borderlands

Yeah all other games work fine, im not the only person with this problem. It started happening shortly after the Knoxx dlc. Been trying to figure out what changes i may have made, but so far I have no idea :(

my son had problems after putting general knoxx on .....it would not save his game anymore so i went in to steam and verifyed the game files and one of them was missing it said .... so steam got itfor me and its been fine ever since

Anyone playing The Secret Armory of General Knoxx?
Do you always appear at the start default location all the way through the game?

Picking up the game and wading through the start bit everytime is getting really boring.

Unfortunately yes. Its is frigging annoying that they didn't bother putting in multiple locations in any DLC, especially when the distances you have to travel are frigging huge and the fighting is very tedious when you merely want to get somewhere that is pointlessly far.

Well the game is still keeping me hooked, the pursuit of loot is quite addictive. Now I've got items to regen my health and ammo it's a lot easier, although the problem with ammo regen is it removes the need to switch weapons to conserve it (meaning a bit less variety as I tend to stick with the same couple of guns 90% of the time).

A couple of annoyances:
-Increased magazine size seems flawed in that when you switch to a weapon often it isn't fully reloaded (has default capacity instead). It also causes problems with multishot weapons because if they normally fire a full mag, they don't anymore, meaning your second shot is much weaker (e.g. my triple rocket launcher now has ammo capacity 4, so it fires 3 rockets, and then 1 single one)
-The use key reloads if you don't have anything highligted, really annoying as it means I keep reloading when I don't want to (to be fair I haven't fully explored the options to see if this can be disabled yet)
-Quite a lot of backtracking, fast travel helps but even then the implementation is a bit flawed, often I can't recognise the name of the place I need to go to. It would be nice if on the fast travel screen it put some sort of icon to show which place is nearest to your current quest objective.

One question, with the DLC, does it matter what level you are (currently I've ignored it all while I am building up my character in case it is intended for high level chars who have completed the game).

On the bright side you can reload at any time. In particular my 5 rocket spread launcher (which fires 5 rockets in a second and in considerably less time with Master Blaster active) i tend to just spam fire and reload to avoid firing too many rockets at weak enemies.

And i agree about the fast travel system. It is utterly awful, especially the way you have to keep wandering back and forth all over the place before you activate it.

It seems Zombie Island levels the zombies for you (perhaps when you first enter) but it has an upper limit depending on the playthrough. Knoxx levels are set by the Playthrough though and don't change regardless of your level.

If you're having problems with Borderlands on ATi cards, it's to do with the latest driver. After around 10 minutes, it starts to produce a memory leak which causes the game to flicker, blank screen and hang until you restart your computer and the only way to solve it i have found, is to set Catalyst A.I. to disable mode [i'm on a 5970].

Just thought I'd let people know (as already stated in the steam swap thread) I have a spare steam copy of borderlands to gift, and would like to swap it for simy city 4 deluxe (£9.99). Grab me via trust if interested.

Right, time to play again with this massive update and new steam acheivements!

I need some help with the FOV change. I've got it working fine, but having a problem with the fov defaulting back to normal after sprinting online. I'm trying to use the 'forward key' work-around, meaning when pressing your forward key it returns to the fov you want, however I play with the arrow keys, rather than for example the W key, so what would the up arrow key be in a command prompt?

Try using this config tool to bind it to forwards, see if that works rather than trying everything manually

Wonder what they plan to do with the 4th DLC. They can't just up the level cap again as that'll make you even more ultra powerful, though it is a good way of making the weapons farmed by the Armoury glitch and Crawlermax obsolete.

I mostly want to see some new enemies... after all theres only so many times you can shoot the new variations of Bandit and Crimson Lance.

I suppose its not too surprising they eventually used the interplanetary ninja assassin.

But they really will make it disembodied (again) if you can start it at any time and still find claptraps everywhere.

Looks interesting though if its true. Basically a re-design of all the current enemies and bosses it seems. I hope to god they put more than 1 frigging fast travel location in!

Just completed the game (playthrough 1 as soldier). Gonna have a bash at the DLC now but I don't think I'll be motivated to playthrough it again (either as PT2 or as a different char).
Took me about 28hrs so decent value for £5.10 even so.

Did you do 4 players playthrough? i've only completed it with a friend but apparently 4 player mode drops a lot more loot and is quite a bit harder?

The DLC is quite decent, completed Island of Dr Ned so far but do not like that there's no transportation method to other areas and can't get that hub mod to install. :(

No I didn't, I'm sure it's a lot tougher and more loot in multiplayer mode (it says so on the intermission screens!) but I'm just not that interested in going through everything again. I've got a list of games as long as The Destroyer's arm that I'm waiting to play so replaying games is sadly a luxury I can no longer afford.
