boris johnson

tbh I thought Johnson was a hell of a lot better, more human and more entertaining than the straight-faced, shouting Chinese president dude :)

I have to admit I think he's great; he seems utterly oblivious to what a fool he makes of himself sometimes. Quality. Bringing ping pong home? hahaha

I still stand by the opinion that Boris is a clever man acting stupid, I quite like the man and what he's done (or proposed to do) so far.

Yeah, this is what I think as well, not stupid but acts a bit of a buffoon. His act is very charismatic and injects a more humane ellement into what is typically a quite dry subject (politics).

I don't see anything stupid about how he comes across, he's a very clever man, with a good sense of humor, and isn't afraid to show it. That's how he appears to me, at least.

Indeed, he's certainly a refreshing change from the idiots trying to act clever that are Livingstone and Brown...

The guy's a buffoon, a complete waste of space. I'm just glad I don't live in London any more.

Boris is great, who else could get away with a speech like that.

I just hope the Games do the UK proud as we have a hard act to follow.

Yeah man, all we need to do is wheel out Boris, David Beckham and the Queen and the world will be in awe. I think we should maybe do the opening ceremoney based on our early invaders like romans and viking ect...and then move onto us exploring with Columbus and Cooke ect

We need the red arrows.

Oh yeah and them...seriously it will be easy. We have a great history and many famous people along the line. We will be fine. And the fact we did well with the Manchester commonwealth games gives me hope :)

I thought the clear agenda of the day was appaling. Out of absolutely nowhere suddenly today EVERYONE involved at the BBC was suddenly talking about the lack of humour and "fun" at the Chinese olympic games, and complained that it took a couple hundred thousand people a long time to get into the stadiums, sometimes 45 minutes and there wasn't the best food.

Firstly the majority of the people in the stadium were chinese and the food was probably not geared towards, McD's and burger kings, No stadium i've been to thats over 20-30k people doesn't take a while to get into. For instance the Emirates is quite easy to walk straight into but thats because ARsenal fans arrive staggered over the space of around 90 minutes because they know thats how to do it, rather than all turn up at the same time and queue for hours.

Complaining about the transport, only on the last day aswell, it was so clear they were told to play up all the things they could remotely find fault with and to address the idea that London would do those things better. It seemed very underhanded and quite a rude thing to do tbh. The sense of fun, and the quicky humour that London 2012 is apparently going to bring to the games which somehow will make it better, was apparently evident in a bus that opens up with an elevator, dodgey aging guitarist, pathetic singer and beckham doing something as creative and fun as kicking a ball. Was i somehow missing the quicky humour and fun that was going to be the trademark of our Olympic effort?

Transport will be a joke, food will be plentiful, loved by the masses and all utter crap in general, organisation, hmmm, dodgey judges favouring the british is almost a certainty and a huge amount of embarassing boy/girl band type popstars and sports stars with zero personality will no doubt be involved.

Boris, it was ok, I like the enthusiasm but he wasn't actually that funny , just the way he says it. THing is, we know what he's like and the people that like him can only do so as we know thats how he is. To the outside world getting a single glimpse of him you would assume he's an utter joke which isn't really the image you want to put across.

I love it that so many here work so hard to maintain the sterotype of the whingeing pom. Keep it up - you all do it so admirably. Really you don't stand a chance of having a good Olympics when 4 years away you can't give it even the slightest dose of positivity.
