Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

Mrk/any other E46 owners - what phones have you got and do they connect OK to the BMW Bluetooth? My HTC One M7, gfs HTC one M8 and Galaxy S3 all connect for about 3 seconds then disconnect.

Very annoying!

I don't have BMW bluetooth, I will have Parrot's Bluetooth when the Asteroid is installed though but it's a bit different for you having stock nav/bt^

I would definitely say the E46 M3 is the car of choice for car enthusiasts. I know 3 different people that own one. All car lovers. Lovely motor. Enjoy

Cheap to buy, race car engine, very driver focused handling with great predictability, exotic sounding, aged very well, all the toys and works great on both road and track with relatively low running cost. Was of BMW's better M cars. :)

My iPhone 4, galaxy s4 and nexus 4 all worked perfectly with the Bluetooth on my 2003 z4 for reference...

Well that was blisteringly quick delivery. Mirrors and BMCable+Software popped through the letterbox :o

I haven't even prepped a spare laptop for this yet!

My Galaxy S4 did the exact same with the E46, however since changing to an iPhone 6 it connects and functions perfectly (also quite a good system considering it's 2003!)

Was looking on the book shelf the other day and remembered my dad bought me a Mini champs M3 for Christmas a few years back after I'd expressed interest in BMW's. Wasn't quite an M3 sat on my drive, but what ya gonna do? Anyway, interesting point is that it's similar to yours mrk;

That is one ugly watch :p

Edit*

Exhaust tips now installed. It was murder a) getting the pop rivets off, I broke 2 drill bits in the process and my hands are feeling rough... And b) Getting the new rivets on as the space to work with is very tight!

I don't want any hint of drone though

I think in the future I will get a CSL style diffuser, it will wrap the tips nicely and finish off the back end. I don't want to pay the £LOL they go for though and don't want a carbon one since nothing else on the car is carbon. I just want a painted one, like the existing diffuser, just with the lipped wraparound

These tips stick out the same distance as stock tips too, which I like!

Which tips did you get? I was looking at some but didn't figure they'd be that hard to fit at all?

Also what mats do you have?

Yeh, there's pretty much zero chance of me trading my HTC one in for an iPhone :p Looking into getting a newer BT module. BMW want £552. Mental.

My iPhone 4, galaxy s4 and nexus 4 all worked perfectly with the Bluetooth on my 2003 z4 for reference...

Yeh I believe most phones were OK until the 4.2 Android when they appear to have stopped working on older BT units :(

Bluetooth stacks changed on later Android versions, maybe the bluetooth modules on cars of that age didn't play ball with the new stacks? Apple don't tend to change that sort of stuff in newer OS versions.

These are the tips. They're easy to "fit", as in, pushing them in and lining up the rivets! Getting the old rivets out and then new rivets in given the space you're given to work with reminded me of the door actuator swap in the old car :D

The mats I have are genuine BMW mats. £83 from Cotswold via forum discount.

Cool, ok thanks.

Also, just for your info, check your arches for rust, underneath and on the outside, and make sure you get all of the crap out of the inside lip of the arch to prevent it happening later on.

Discovered a very small amount of rust on my rear arch, which BMW won't do under the anti-corrosion warranty as it has been repaired before  But I have a very small amount forming under the front drivers arch so i will get them to do that, and the mirror bases at the same time.

They won't do the mirror base as it's not counted as part of the body but instead as trim, and trim isn't covered by the anti corrosion warranty! Luckily I've got the driver mirror replaced free by the dealer I bought the car off with a newly painted one, so all good. BMW told me if the car was say 4 or 5 years old then they'd replace trim under good will but not for trim on a 9 year old one.

My arches are clean too! I'll have to keep an eye on though as indeed E46 arch rust isn't uncommon.

Just to update on this, what black magic does this stuff employ?! It has made all creaks around the roof and windows go awayt! It's still early days so will give it time to see how much rejuvenation work it does to the rubber but so far I am very impressed.

I have since applied it to all rubber seals around the car now

Glad to hear it :)

I've heard nothing but praise for it. Certainly stops my windows sticking in the cold.
