Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

I got the 500ml. That is enough for two generous coats of each bottle.

The model in my colour isn't available for sale :( I will however look to sneding mthis one away to be painted my colours at some point!

Didn't get a chance to ultraproof the roof having left the colour to dry overnight, was soaking when I got out to check this morning :(

Oh well, gotta wait several hours now for it to dry again.

Phoenix Yellow is a brilliant colour and has some great road presence.

Sadly I don't think the description of that example being "stunning" holds true. While it may be low mileage, it looks like it's done a lot more than that, has been used without floor mats, wheels have been painted at some point and are kerbed, missing ///M badges and the exhaust is aftermarket, can't tell the brand but I fully expect it to drone on the motorway.

I imagine it has also had its centre section modified to change the rasp, usually those two things go hand in hand with many owners having lurked forums the past year and seen what people do to them.

The engine bay has also been steam cleaned and given the "back to black" treatment, just not done very well. Everything is too shiny. What is it hiding?

That car doesnt look great at all, the interior has been heavily cleaned but looks very worn out to me. Not immaculate at all and certainly not an investment in my opinion.

So, put your deposit on it yet? :p

If I ever have a new respray done in the future, I think Laguna Seca Blue is a must. Such a great colour.

Lets not go that far :p

But no, in no rush and i am still undecided on what to do. All i know is that i want something fun, fast, RWD and makes a noise.

Leguna Seca Blue is one of the classics.. I have seen one in the flesh, the only issue is it doesn't pop in poor light as much, but still looks aggressive.

Love/hate the CSL spoiler on that car?

All my head unit stuff has turned up (YAY!)
Navall 3
Extension leads
Reverse camera
I did get a bluetooth OBD dongle with it, but might just wire up the Carly USB lead instead, so I can run Carly on the headunit for coding/diagnostics etc..

One quick question though...
- The GPS antenna/dongle thing, where are people putting this? I think all headunits come with one, normally I'd have that in the corner of the dash to get maximum reception, but I see some people hiding it behind the head unit?

Pre-install stuff:
I popped down to halfrauds to get some removal keys for the original head unit, I was amazed that they actually had ones that fitted and only £4.99! I've test removed the factory nav head unit which was fairly easy after reading some guides.. and the keys also work in the Navall which shocking didn't come with any!

I would say that the E46 is a minefield, due to all the configurations, having HK Audio and Factory nav = maximum hassle, and so you need all the little adapters/extension leads etc.. I think the only adapter that wasn't supplied is the Fakra to DIN aerial adapter, so I've ordered one of those from the 'bay just in case..

Hopefully will try to install this weekend, the plan is to hook everything up in the boot using the extension leads, prove it all works as expected before putting the extension leads through the car!

It would be amusing if I ended up buying it now. :p

E: Having now looked at the ad, if that is the sort of car you should walk away from, I'm screwed.

Its not a case of it being a bad car, it is a case of it being an average looking worn out example which has had a heavy valet to make it look shiny. As such there is no way it is worth a premium over any other "ok" E46.

CSL lid does look cool on that. Just can't bring myself to get one fitted in the future :o

Demon, be interesting to hear how you get on with the Navall.

I reckon you'll definitely get the CSL lid at some point in the future... Makes sense to do it now so you can enjoy looking at it for longer ;)

What did you do with your GPS aerial/dongle? (presuming yours has an external GPS module?) I was thinking of putting it on the dash in the corner, but some people hide theirs behind the head unit which is cleaner, but you have to wonder about reception..

Doubt it :p I am quite particular on my my car looks (as close to OEM as possible on the outside) and prefer mods that could otherwise have been a factory option :p
