Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

I could not see it anywhere tough, hmm might spend another afternoon having a deeper look.

Look at this video: https://youtu.be/ClBBZw-OaEo

Towards the end he shows both sides, the roof control module and amps are on the passenger side, and on the dirver side is something else that isn't the PDC module as it's too large, and is black instead of white?

I changed my clutch and flywheel when I had a low mileage gearbox fitted..

At 86K Miles, my clutch was worn about 75%, and the flywheel was about 50% worn (They can easily measure the play in it), so whilst they said it had clearly not had a hard life I decided to change both just so it's done and something to forget about..

I would change the flywheel purely as it's a DMF, so does get worn over time.

Regarding the sub-frame, mine was inspected at 72K miles with no cracks, but the owner back then knew the service manager at the local BMW garage so had it done as a matter of course.. Quite frankly if I keep the car for a while I'd probably get it re-inforced properly at ETA just to be safe, I think £750 isn't too bad for that..

Thanks for the info.

I hope you don't mind me posting this stuff mrk, being your car thread and all.

I was hoping to get a look in on this as it was local, but before I knew it...sold.

That does look very nice, although for that price you'd expect it to! Says he had a single spring replaced which is a bit concerning, as these are replaced in pairs if one goes. Also doesn't mention subframe, so I assume it hasn't been checked.

People are still spending 16 grand on an E46 M3?!

I bought mine with 2 owners, 80k miles and subframe fixed for half that two years ago!

At this rate I could make my purchase money back lol if I ever sold years down the line - Probably, although I doubt I will ever sell unless an NSX falls into my lap :p

Prices are exploding for them, you'd be surprised at the amount of random Facebook messages and PM's I get on cutters offering to buy my car even though its not sale. The lowest offer has being 13k and highest 16k. Which are people clearly hoping I do not know the true value so they can get themselves a bargain.

A friend recently advertised his, identical to mine pretty much and he got 21k for a 120k mile 2002 M3, albeit with all similar bits added like mine and well maintained.

One sold at auction recently, M3 cabriolet with minuscule miles... £31k  Apparently the owner owed a lot of taxes and was selling his "collection".

If I had 100k lying around waiting to be spent on a car, I don't think it would be an E30 M3, it would have to be an NSX without a doubt. To my eyes there isn't a prettier modern classic like those things!

On the M3, have a track day coming up soon at Bedford Autodrome, looking forward to it quite a bit. Have added the optional tuition with one of their guys for a couple of laps as it will be my first track day, and then will pootle around having fun

Especially excited to hear the Eventuri at full chat, and see what the car is capable of with the combination of new bushes, CSC6 tyres, PFC Z- rated pads + ss braided lines and the remap.

Ah, is that the one on 11th December?

I was looking at that. Not sure I can justify two track days in a week though :/

Even with it being categorised?

Spending above 10k on an E46 M3 is absolute madness unless its a CSL.
